I've a question for you guys on the correct outcome.
I've just finished playing in our Wednesday bowl medal competition. This competition is decided on your best 2 net scores of the 5 rounds in the competition. There has been 2 people finished on the same score of 130.
One player has 65-65. The other player has 67-63 (me)
What is the ruling on deciding who wins.
Remember this is the best 2 scores from any of the 5 rounds.
Your help with this would be appreciated.
I've asked Alec but I didn't get any clarity.

Please reply via e mail.
Cheers

Ps I've also emailed howdidido.com & they replied with.....

As this is decided on any 2 best net scores from 5 medal rounds the decision would go to the player with the lowest net score of the competition.
If the 2 players were tied with the exact same selected scores then the usual count back rules would come into play on the 2nd of their 2 selected scores.

Ie if one player shot 75-65= 140
& another player shot 76-64 =140
The player with the 64 would win.

if both players had shot 70-69
Then the count back would be on the 69.
Please let me know the correct way of deciding result.
many thanks

Have you asked your club committee what their standing is?

Yes I asked. They said that the 65-65 won. Because the later 65 was shot in the final 5th counting round. Wheras my 63 was shot 2 weeks ago. What does that matter when you select the 2 best scores from any 5 rounds???
that would mean if I only played 2 of the 5 rounds & shot 67-63 in the first to rounds. The other guy does the same then I win. He really didn't know how it was decided?
thats why I'm asking on here
thanks

Wouldn't be overly happy with that answer. It sounds like your comp committee are thinking off the cuff. Ask for a copy of that competition rules. Sounds like they didn't think about the possibility of a draw.

The winner will be whichever score accords with the competitions rules for splitting a tie. If the comp did not do that, then they have a problem and would be better off tossing a coin than making up a rule that did not previously exist.

I'd ask to see a copy of the competition rules which says the score shot latest wins. Sounds like a fudge when you can put scores in over a range of dates. I would have thought lowest score would have been more of a deciding factor than when a score was recorded. I'd put my complaint in writing and ask to see proof of the decision

Funny one but unless you have seen comp rules and they differ from the decision then you have an issue if not its unfortunate. Tasty little cut though for a nett 63.

Ps welcome to the madhouse enjoy!

What is the correct result????

As some have posted, the correct result is the one made in accord with the Conditions of Competition that existed before the issue arose! Rule 33-6

If nothing is documented it should be settled by a play off ie a committee can't create a retrospective solution to a failure to meet requirements.

What others do, or have done, is irrelevant.
