Hi all - my daft offspring has lost his Mizuno MP53 46 degree pitching wedge. Nothing available on ebay and when I rang Mizuno they said 'that is last year's set - we don't carry any spares for them' so a bit of a dead end there.

Any ideas where I can find a replacement?

Thanks

I find that absolutely incredible that a major manufacturer can't supply a replacement iron for a set 1 year old?????

I'd be switching to a different manufacturer when its upgrade time!

I've just swapped out my Cleveland CG16 wedges for Cleveland 588 blade wedges with the Rotex face. They are brilliant wedges, they generate a lot of spin and combined with the right ball ( I use Srixon Z-Stars) you can get the ball to stop very quickly. They have a good weight to them, you get a lot of feel off the face, they have a good sole grind to allow you to open them up more if required, all in all a very good wedge.

And to be fair he didn't really 'lose' it. he put it down on the range when he was training with some other juniors and it hasn't been seen since despite lots of searching and asking.

Bit of an odd message from Mizuno as the MP53 was a 2010 iron. Removed from the "current" roster in late 2011.
I understand your pain in the search though as, aside from the usual 6 & 7 irons (ex demos) MP irons are awful to try and find as individual clubs.
As above, best bet may be to look at an aftermarket replacement like a CG or Vokey (IIRC those are the only "big" two that go down under 50 degree lofts).

Thanks - I may have misunderstood mizuno since we only bought the clubs last year - and I will look into the Vokey / CG options.

I have a similar problem, I've never had a 9 iron with my AP1's can't find one anywhere for love or money (in the uk at least)

I resorted to finding a 9 iron with the correct-ish loft (an adams a7) until one turns up but nearly 2 years of searching has turned up nothing, might even have to resort to buying another cheap set

Ive experianced with both Mizuno and Titleist that they dont stock replacement heads on relatively new irons.Just find this amazing in this day and age.

Exactly the response I got from titliest "too old to stock" was the reply

I find it a little hard to believe they have none really

I do think it is a bit like having a three year old Vauxhall Astra and then being told 'sorry - we don't stock parts for that old car anymore - would you like to but a new Vauxhall instead?'

I understand your anguish but tbh very few people want the old model of club these days and if they did keep stock how much should they keep? 10/50/1000 of each model and how far back should they go/ Every manufacturer bring out two or more new models per year and no doubt they pay the factories that make them per head so it is dead money to keep things lying around that no one will want unless like your lad they are unlucky enough to lose one. Keep your eye out on Ebay normally something turns up. Good luck.
