Played Renaissance for the second time yesterday and thought I'd mention a couple of things that has changed.

Firstly, if your not playing with a member (I wasnt) you get a caddy for the group who helps with lines off the tee and putts. We were helped by a guy called Alisdair, a real gent who saved each of us a few strokes.

He then showed us the new holes, for those who have played it, they will be on the coast side of the 12th hole, two par three's and a par four. The first par three will be like the 14th at Winterfield, one of the best par 3's I've played, then the par 4 will be like Machrahanish 1st/Kingsbarns 12th followed by a wee uphill par three to rejoin where the 12th & 13th will be combined to create a new par 4.The first three holes will be removed from the course but kept as a practice holes.

I believe it will make the golf course the strongest set of holes in East Lothian and easily capable of hosting a Tour event.Thinking back, the weakest holes were the 8th and I personally didnt care too much for the 15th, but .

I really did enjoy the day and would love to go back and if anybody offers you a game there, take it.

It is possible to get a game even as a non-member or commoner. Call and ask. It will not be cheap, though.

This is the only Tom Doak course in the UK. Doak is one of the best designers in the game and any course he is involved with is worth travelling to play.

How do you keep getting invited to play there? Are you actually HRH Adi2Dassler?

:D first time was through East Lothian planning dept. The club were having 'issues' with some trees they had cut down without permission, my pal was the planning officer and suggested a round of golf to 'inspect' the damage would be prudent.

Yesterday was thru Archerfield, they have a reciprocal deal and I'm fortunate enough to be related to someone down there.

It's a tough as nails but I'd play there every day if i could.

I never paid, but £90 was mentioned. You do need to take the group caddy, though and you pay him seperatly.
