My dad always wanted one of these and hes finally going to get one hes interested in this http://www.proriderleisure.com/leis...eys/electric-remote-control-golf-trolley.html he saw it on top gear a few years ago they were messing about with one or something on the show.

Yesterday on the golf course a bloke talking to said that remote control golf trolleys are very poor with battery life and they not cheap to replace which has put some doubt into his head about getting one

Anyone using a remote control trolley and i hope they can tell me their experiences thank you.

i have the motocaddy s7 remote and its a really good trolley. It is expensive at £800, but it comes with a high capacity lithium battery which it needs as it has to power 2 motors. No problems with battery life for me so far. As long as you get a lithium battery it should last for years. I would not buy a remote trolley with a lead acid battery.

I've got a Protrolley remote & it has a 36 hole battery because it has to drive two motors. I went through two lead acid batteries, they took ages to charge & barely lasted 18 holes. The Lithium battery I have now does 18 holes easily & takes around 3½ hours to charge. Would easily do 27 holes, not sure about 36.

The battery life is only lower because they have 2 motors to drive the wheels instead of 1, a normal lead acid battery classed as a 27/36 hole battery will do the job no problem for an 18 hole round,

whats a 432W RATING 36AH 36 HOLE BATTERY that's the battery on the trolley my dad wants

That's a lead acid battery. I had a Robokaddy with a lead acid battery which lasted me at least 5 years, when that one finally died I had two replacements neither of which lasted six months. I've now got a remote control trolley with a lithium battery and I would never go back to lead acid.

To be honest the trolley your dad is looking at is dirt cheap, I'd say bite the bullet and spend another £100 on the lithium battery version. It will be worth every penny.

Are the acid batteries that bad or it just unlucky with the one you get?

Absolutely nothing wrong with lead acid batteries, just lithium are much better!

Once my 2 LA batteries die I'll be replacing with lithium

Following with interest. Funnily enough this is the same trolley I was looking at as a replacement for my current electric non remote trolley.

My experience is that lead acid batteries are a bit hit and miss. Both of those that lasted 6 months were sent back to Lucas for "independent" testing and both were supposedly in full working order. But both lasted about 16 holes before giving up the ghost. But I've had lead acid batteries that have lasted longer than expected. Lithium batteries are lighter, faster to charge and, so far, more reliable.
