Can you remember the first proper band you ever saw?
Mine was Hawkwind back in 1973. I was so blown away that I went to see them the following night too ....................... I could barely hear for a week!
They were fantastic & at that time featured Lemmy, Dave Brock, Nik Turner and Del Dettmar among others.
Awesome times ................. proper music.

I think Hawkwind may have been mine as well around the same time.

Huey Lewis and the News, Hammersmith Odeon, 1986. Supported by Bruce Hornsby and the Range. Quality night.

The Scorpions at Hammy Odeon supported by Blackfoot who completely blew the Jerry's off stage. '79 I think and the ticket cost £3.75 or thereabouts...
Had a sore neck for 3 days......and severe deafness for some reason...

Motorhead at Portsmouth Guild Hall in 1981 during the Ace of Spades tour. Had proper buzzing in my ears for days afterwards.

Thin Lizzy Hammersmith Odeon, Live & Dangerous Tour 1978 ish

What a Gig

I also saw Motorhead at Wycombe Town hall a few weeks later, there were 9 of us in the audience, still did a full set though :)

Unfortunately I never got to see Thin Lizzy live - my Brothers probably did.

When I hear "Whiskey In The Jar" on the radio now, it makes me realise more, what a great singer and artist he was.

It's funny how you appreciate the "musicality" and lyrics so much more now, than when one is younger (well I do anyway)

Would love to have heard a lot more of him.

The drifters - New brighton pavillion in about 1982, I was about 12.

Or at least an incarnation of the drifters - I think there has been enough drifters over the years to populate a small country.

As an adult, I think either Big country on the Liverpool empire, the Black crowes on the royal court or Simple Minds at Roundhay park..

Ian Dury & The Blockheads, Lewisham Odeon, mid 70's. Both artist & venue sadly no longer with us.

Thin Lizzy were fantastic live, as was Huey Lewis. Might have to investigate Blackfoot a little more, saw Ricky Medlocke playing with Lynyrd Skynyrd last year, Shepherd's Bush Empire, now that was a good night.
