regripping

Wondered how many people regrip clubs themselves and how often you regrip clubs?
I tend to regrip every year, I usually do this myself and have not encountered any problems.
My Titleist irons have original Golf Pride corded grips on which I have never liked, I don't find them grippy or comfortable. Gone for a set of Winn's with a polymer/cord mix.....in copper colour!
Got a blue Lamkin torsion thing for the driver.
Does take a wee while to do them all but the winter evenings are long!
Always find new grips feel great and you grip more lightly of course as they feel tacky which is good.

One tip - if you are using the tape strips the solvent based ones are far better than the water based ones for getting the grips over them and for holding the grip firm on the shaft.

What do you do?

I know how to do them but I tend to just pay someone at the clubhouse to do it for me, Im just lazy I guess. I dont change them annually unless necessary, cleaning them properly on a regular basis retains the grip and feel. ;)

Takes me back to my assistant pro days and hours spent in the workshop fitting new grips and re-whipping woods (how many people remember those??)

I should do it myself as I have doen hundreds in my time but Homer by name.... I give them to the assistant at my club now and figure its a rite of passage. I try and get them down every year but as I go for the golf pride decade multicompound (usually the red ones) it is expensive and I haven't had the funds so have lagged them out for about 15 months. It really depends how much I practice as they tend to wear quickly if I'm hitting lots of balls.

My new(ish) TM Tour Burner have the standard tour velvet grip which is fairly hard wearing and an average grip. I do clean them every month to stop a build up of grease and dirt and so they do tend to wear pretty well

I could probably do it if I tried but I'm afraid of screwing it up and having to pay a pro to do it so - I pay a pro to do it.

I'm quite gentle on grips - they can easily last 2-3 seasons. I've got fairly new grips on everything except my 7 wood which I may get done next month. keep 'em clean and they last.

I tend to regrip every couple of years.

Get my grips & tape etc from Gamola on Ebay. Good selection, good delivery.

Even had to regrip my daughters clubs recently with Pink Winn grips. A bit too lively on the eyes for my tate!

Solvent activated tape for me every time. Lot easier when you get set up for it properly.

Changing grips is easy if you take the time to prepare them properly and fit them quickly. Adjustmenst are easy when fresh on, then leave to dry for 24hrs.

As has been said lots of places to find info/vids online to see how it is done.

I do mine myself, last time was during the summer so i think they will last at least another 12 months especially as they are a full cord grip. It is not difficult to do and i also agree that the solvent activated tape is best.
