Refreshment at Sandwich

Does anyone know what the rules are about taking food and drink through the entrance gates to the British Open at Royal st Georges? Are we allowed a packed lunch and a bottle of beer or must we buy all refreshments on-site? Can't seem to find any info about this. Ta.

At Wentworth the other day, a sausage (admittedly a rather long one) and a modest portion of chips was £6.80, so I am sure The Open would not be any cheaper.
