I must admit, my knowledge of wine, specially red, is pretty dire.
Generally I drink whites from New Zealand but tonight I fancy a little red.
I like them light yet fruity or "jammy" if such a thing exists. I remember having an NZ pinot noir which was nice but that's about as far as I dare go. Any recommendations I can pick up at the supermarket and what to avoid?

🍻

For white it's Blue Nun all the way. For red Mateus in a nice whicker basket. You don't mess with the classics.;)

You guys start thinking about the weekend quite early in Gateshead! Anyway red wine should be sold next to the rest of the vinegars

Suggestions:
Drink white wine
Man up and get beer
Go fashion conscious and get cider
Don’t buy anything and give money to charity
Buy other half flowers instead

If you must get red then spend more than £3.99 and for gawds sake chill it first!

Enjoy

My favourite Red is Rioja and there are some decent ones available quite reasonable priced, Campo Viejo is one I get a lot. Not what I would call "light" though.

Love a good Malbec. Asda one selling at a fiver is winning all sorts of awards at the moment so will invest in a couple of bottles to test over the weekend

Agree about Malbec - also have a nice taste for it

Also have a taste for Châteauneuf-du-Pape at the moment but that's a bit pricey so save for a good meal

Spanish gives me the biggest headache ever.

Italian for me, which I will be drinking to morrow night in Milan.

Valpocella, Barbara di Asti, Nero Davola. As slab said slightly chilled.

once you have been bitten get yourself a nice Samsung wine fridge, dual temp for the Reds and whites.

Pick a bottle that has a picture of an animal on the label. That's how I always choose wine. It's a secret code in the wine industry that the animal is used to signify a good bottle of wine.

The one that won the Sunday Times £30.00 and under catergory a while back was Toro Loco from Aldi's, £4.99 a bottle, totally confused all these wine experts who were doing the tasting.
Also has a picture of a bull on the label, 😃

Great wine, Aldi do some cracking wines between £4-5

Stay loyal to golf and try something by Els, Goosen or David Frost ;)

I like most new world stuff, Malbec, Merlot. Partial to a decent Pinot Noir or Rioja too. To be fair, i quite like pretty much all red except the really deep and heavy French reds, or the very fruity shizzle.

My advice go to a wine merchant and try a few or at worst Majestic they have tastings.

if you only want to spend too much just buy a few cheapies until you find one you like

Red red wine goes to my head, makes me forget, that I still need you so.
