Playing in a swing lounge for a laugh Thursday night. Any recommendations of which course to load up (assuming it's available)? Looking for something reasonably free of water but something iconic would be good. St Andrews is an option, but open to suggestions.

I have no idea what course to suggest & never having used one I have to ask, why no water?

Its a simulator you're not taking socks & shoes off to fish out your only ball surely ;)

I really won't choose St. Andrews, any computer golf game I have played it has been quiet benign and I have read before people saying that the course itself is not all that challenging, it is the feeling and all atmosphere of the place along with the local weather that makes it what it is.
I think I would go along with Augusta (I have played on sim) or maybe Sawgrass.

Thanks for the pointers there. Appreciate it :)

I'm a beginner and my mate who I'm going with hasn't hit a ball for a good while. It's just depressing playing when you can't get over the water off the tee due to not hitting long enough. :)

Ok makes sense, I'm guessing you cant just 'power up' then

They did say something about being able to shorten the holes for us, but I'd rather have a good challenge at something equating to normal lengths. It's a bit of fun, yes, but it's also a ball-loss free way of checking how far off I am actually booking a tee time for real this season!

So it's a Golfzon sim. Ended up playing Kiawah Island Ocean Course. Was a lot of fun once we got used to how the sim works. It's certainly no substitute for playing in real life, but the lack of lost balls was a definite bonus. Particularly as we both ended up OOB rather a lot.
I finished 47 over which for me is a good round. And it also told me my good drives go around 230-240 yards. Which is a surprise.

My teaching pro did advise getting it set to gimme everything on the green as putting sucks.

Agreed - my playing partner and I meet up for lunch and a hit at The Golf Lounge in Glasgow every couple of weeks through winter. We play St Andrews ( and set it to No Putting)
We tried other 'big courses' but found if you got in the trees it was v.difficult (and time consming) to get out
St Andrews is wide open, and our priority is hitting as many full shots as possible in our lunch break
