Got a few days in Cornwall in September, will be travelling down from Cambridge via the M5 and will be looking for a course to play on the way down, ideally around Bristol to split the journey roughly in half, and ideally within about 20 mins of the M5.

Have looked at Burnham and Berrow, any other recommendations would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Presumably you're going via the Midlands and straight down the M5? If so, Clevedon is a decent shout.

If going the other way and coming along the M4, the Kendleshire is well placed, as is the Players.

We are doing a similar trip in October from Surrey, and the only place we considered was Burnham and Berrow. Cracking links course and we got a good deal for two fourballs.

Have a pickup on the A14 en route so will be coming down the M5, not the M4.

Burnham and Berrow is very tempting, and will give me a good re-introduction to Links golf before we get down to Trevose, St Enedoc and Newquay.

just wondered what other options there are in that neck of the woods.

@Richart - what deal did you get out of interest?

Burnham is a good as St Enodoc, and leagues above Trevose and Newquay. In fact I'd bin one of those two off and play Perranporth.

Depends if you want links only or parkland, when we go to Saunton for 3 nights we do a stop on the way & back, the last time we played Taunton & Pickering and I really enjoyed the course and it was very friendly also. You could also look at Minchimhampton.

£200 per fourball including roll and coffee.

Just noticed it is only for October through to February. Sorry about that.

We are playing St Enodoc and Perranporth, and East Devon on the way back. Couldn't get on Trevose due to competitions but not a trip breaker. If we couldn't have played St Enodoc it would have been.

A few years ago we played Oake Manor on the way down, nice course, but it can get very wet.

We played Oake Manor once on the way down in March, we had it booked for over 5 months and we played off 18 mats, you'd of thought they'd have informed us as we were told they do this religiously over winter even when it's dry! I wasn't impressed at all.

For a lower cost links warm up consider Weston Super Mare.... very good value and excellent greens.... otherwise, Burnham and Berrow all day long.

Bowood and Castle Combe are a little bit of a detour east up the M4 but both worth a visit. Google, The Players Club - quite close to M4 junction 18 so not as far east,

A little further north is Stinchcombe - just off M5... worth a look
