Hi all,
I've got Wednesday off work. Playing the medal at Filton GC in the morning then was planning on going and playing another local course in the afternoon, as I haven't sampled any other local courses since i moved here and think I should.

The Bristol, The Kendleshire and Chipping Sodbury I'm considering at the moment as they are on teeofftimes for a good price. What else you got?

Also, anyone want to join me?

Cheers
Stu.

Shirehampton, Henbury, Long Aston, Woodspring, Clevedon.

Love to have a game but it's about sixty miles from where I am. ;) Lived in the area for many years though (Portishead)

How about the Players Club in Codrington? I am not sure about price but the Codrington course is really nice and a good challenge.

Players club is a waste of time if we have a lot of rain, otherwise great course.

I would give Henbury a go, great course.
Of the 3 you mentioned chipping sodbury is my fav bu the other 2 are both great tracks.
Thornbury is close but will no doubt be busy.
the signature course at woodlands is enjoyable and cheap if that's what you are after.
never played Knowle but have heard good things.

depending on your base location, there are great courses if you head north 30 mins, namely Minchinhampton or a bit further my place Cotswold hills but I won't be about to sign you in so will be £45 ish unless you have county card.

Used to be a member at the Bristol, a few years back now but was a nice course. You should also give stockwood vale a go sometime...

I played a team match at Cotswold Hills last year and enjoyed the course. It did rain a bit though :)

Bet it was still dry and running though;)
very lucky with natural drainage, just stand no chance when snow arrives as it stays for about a week after everywhere else as melted.

Yes it does drain well up on the Cotswold ridge. There was some punishing rough, waist high stuff in places.

Played Thornbury before. I live in Bishopston so North is better for me. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Looks like I can get on the Bristol for £10.50 so I think that's a winner

Always enjoyed my rounds there and it has proper par 3's (short with water etc).

what time you playing, may join you if weather is nice and I get my work done.

2:30 I reckon. That gives me enough time to play the medal at Filton, have some lunch then head up there.

Was going to suggest this as my best mate is a member and I played there a month back - good track. Some cracking and very scenic water holes.

BTW - what's Filton like these days - four of us thinking of playing there soon (three of us were members in the mid80s-mid90s - you'll find me in the 'honours book' a few times - when I could play golf and compete with just about anyone :))

Filton has been fantastic all summer, just great condition. The greens are excellent.
The only thing that lets it down is some of the old (brown sand - new ones are white)bunkers need sorting, but they are being done as funds allow and most are done now.
