... GPS.

Spec reqd:

A Picture of the hole with distances to hazards and green(front, middle, back). Ideally, with the ability to measure to a specific point ahead on the fairway... budget £300.

Had a Skycaddie 2.5 but found it a bit limited. Got a Bushnell Medallist laser rangefinder but maybe I've got Parkinson's coz hand shakes too much to get a decent fix.

Cannot recommend Shotmiser enough. Fantastic overviews of all the holes, can touch anywhere on screen to get a yardage to that point, program your own winter greens if need be, program a practice area so you can measure your yardages...

Love mine.

Well I can't see the point in spending £100's on a GPS when I have an iPhone and installed "golf shot GPS".

Seriously guys it is fantastic, I love it, I keeps my scores, workes out my yardages for each club and tells me how far to each hole.

Only issue is that it kills my phone battery.

Another issue.....you can't use them in comps

Are they 'legal' in comps?

I just a second bar in g5 of here last week and its brilliant well worth the money. Good on power has all the courses pre loaded and has no fees and you can select a point on the screen and it will give you the yardage which I think is a big plus.

Golfbuddy platinum. Within budget, no subscription and 40,000 courses preloaded. Turn on as you get your gear ready and it it ready for you on the first tee. Any missing courses will be mapped FOC usually within 5 days. Goswick only took the 3 days after the request.

Scoring for up to 4 players and stats using the pro play function. Bunkers, water hazards, front middle and back of green yardages and pin yardage a the touch of the screen when you close enough to see position

Why? no different from a GPS and turn off the phone function.

Because the device is capable of having an app that will measure slope, or a compass, irrespective of whether or not its on the device or turned off... Rule 14-4.

Edit: oops - Rule 14-3
