Staying in Filey for a couple of days during half-term. I have brought the clubs down and am hoping for a game tomorrow - original plan was to play today but it has tipped it down all day.

Forecast for tomorrow looks decent, sunny and very little wind.

Am looking for somewhere reasonably close by that will be ok for a relative beginner. Suggestions welcome!

What about Filey, it looks quite good and I think they have a 9 hole there as well.

Filey, Bridlington Belvedere, Bridlington Links, Flamborough, Scarborough North Cliff, Scarborough South Cliff all great courses. you are spoiled for choice. it's a great area for golf.

yeah, that's the obvious one, however I phoned them up this afternoon, the course was closed due to the rain and they didn't seem to be too hopeful it would be open tomorrow.

just saw that I can get a round at Scarborough South Cliff for £9 on teeofftimes, only 15 mins drive from here, so might give that a go if it's open. It has chucked it down all day and is still doing so:(

Maybe a bit too far, I played at Whitby last year whilst there on holiday, a really enjoyable course not too testing and right next to the sea.

Got up to a beautiful sunny day, took the dogs for a six-miler on the beach, then thought 'right, that's my duty done, let's get the golf organised!'

phoned up Filey - course closed. Tried Scarborough South Cliff - same. Bridlington was also shut. Bride Links was a bit better - 6 holes open:(

Scarborough North Cliff was closed, but the message said they hoped to be open later in the day and to check back after 10.30.

Flamborough Head had 15 holes open, all on temps and wanted £20 for that.

Was thinking that was as good as it was going to get, but when I phoned North Cliff back, they were open with all 18 holes in play, albeit on temps.

Headed thru there, got a bargain rate of £10, and had a cracking afternoon. Had the course to myself, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful course, and pretty forgiving for a duffer like me.

Good that you got a game in the end, shame so many course are closed, really feel for them as the lost revenue must hurt a lot.
