Most of us could benefit from lessons, some of us have lessons and possibly wouldn't recommend the pro. After recently starting lessons thanks to a recommendation on this forum I thought it may be good to have a thread recommending Pros that we've found good around the country and what training aids they have i.e. GC2. This could help anyone picking a pro for lessons to pick the best pro in their region.

I see Chris Ryan at the Belfry. He uses Flightscope &/or Trackman, and many homemade aids using a variety of DIY products.
Ian Walley at Keldeston helped my putting mid-season.
The guys at EMGA, based at Morley Hayes in derby, have a very good reputation. In fact I believe most of the club pro's in the area go to Steve Astle (who I believe is/was a GM top 25 coach?)

Whos your pro and recommendation?

I am lucky enough to know several I would be happy to refer anyone to.

Alasdair Barr
Andy Blackman (Pyrford)
Andy Kirk ( Guildford)
Ady Carter (Roker Park)
Greg Brodie (Foxhills)
Albert Mckenzie (Saunton Sands)

All good coaches and nearly all nice blokes too (difference between AK and God.........God doesnt think he is AK!! But that boy does know the golf swing!)

ill have a bet with you that he'll spend the lesson looking at his trackman rather than your swing

Ill have a bet he looks at the swing, trackman numbers and the high speed video from both front on and down the line, then gives some pointers as to what he thinks needs changing and why, and then gives some drills to help engrain the required changes

I was with al for 4 years. when he got his trackman this summer it all went wrong

Thats clearly your opinion, but not a fair reflection of the sessions Ive had with him this year. Yes he uses trackman but they arent the focus of the lessons as you imply and Ive learnt a lot from him a lot quicker than I have from other pro's because of how he communicates and the information he has to hand.

it is only my opinion of course. and another 7 people I know that left since then too. I know one lad that still has lessons with him but walks in and demands he turns off the trackman

With all due respect he has worked wonders for me and I am aware of 2 other forum users that go to him. He looks at the swing and the track man numbers and comes up with brilliant fixes. If he improves your golf at the end of the day then that's what you go for isnt it?
He gets results damn good results.

Is your signature correct? I really dont mean it in any negative way towards in anyway but your handicap has come down 2.2 this year. surely you would agree Thats not working wonders?

I haven't played any qualifiers since I started seeing him. What I have done is shoot a pb by 4 shots this weekend and my best ever round in the rain last weekend. As he recommends I'll have lessons over the winter and then enjoy my golf next season.

Can't say any fairer than that then.

I come on leaps and bounds when i was seeing him and his one of the nicest blokes about but since he moved to the forest this year his lessons have become a bit more impersonal and feels like a doctors (one in, one out)
I was struggling on the short game area not long ago and i asked what's going on here mate? He said "book in and we'll sort it out"
I don't expect much for free but when ive been a loyal customer for 4 years you expect a few minutes attention
