I currently play with Mizuno MX700 Fairways and Hybrid, however my mate has just bought 3&5Wood Callaway Razr's and hits them consistently well and about 20yrds further than he used to, in fact I borrowed the 3Wood and soanked it level with my driver!! Hell of a club.

Now I cant afford £200 per club but I have found a few out there which I may consider (in order of preference):-

1. Mizuno JPX800 - £99 each from AG
2. TaylorMade RBZ - £169
3. TaylorMade R11 (old model) - £149
4. Stick with MX700's and keep £300-£500 in my pocket.

I do hit the MX700's fairly well and get the following distances:-
1. 3Wood - 235yrds
2. 5Wood - 215yrds
3. Hybrid - 200yrds

Having seen the transformation its made to my mates game it has made me think twice about this, but am I changing just because of what its done to his game? or would the clubs above REALLY help my game too?

There's not alot wrong with your current distances, but if you do change have a slap with the new amp range from cobra, I just got the hybrId in a 17* and the consistency is mind blowing

Just got myself a 3 RBZ (along with the driver) and it works very well for me. So far the shots are longer, straighter and consistent. Don't know of it is 17 yds are not though :)

If those yardages are accurate what is there to improve on?

How many times have you hit the Cally 3 wood 255 yards up the middle? 1 off wonder shot?

Very true. The distances i've shown are Summer distances I probably get about 210yrd from the 3Wood in the Winter.

Think i'll stick with what I've got, I'd only be changing for changing sake tbh, we all know the buzz a new club or two gives us, but the speed in which they update clubs these days they would be out of date in 6mths.

nothing wrong with those distances at all, however one club that does give it a good pop is the Mizuno MP titanium, can be had cheap as well, not as forgiving though.

One of my playing partners has the Razr Driver, fairways and hybrids and they are quite long especially the driver however I bought the Callaway Diablo Edge Tour fairways, (3 & 5 wood), on special at online golf for £110 and there is very little in it, between the twoin terms of distance.

I also bought a MD Golf Superstrong F7,(No 7), fairway wood from Dunluce Golf on ebay for £40. I love the Callaways however the MD 7 wood is now my favourite club as it is every bit as good as the Callaways so much so that if I was to buy again I'd go for the MD's as they are so easy to hit long and accurately.

With the distances you have quoted I would stick with what you have for now and wait for the Razr's to be discounted at the end of the year.

I changed all of my woods and one hybrid to Mizuno JPX 800s and they are so forgiving and not short in the distance department either. Getting better distance and consistancy out of the 3 wood than I was with my Callaway Diablo Edge.

If budget is an issue, I still rate the Ping G10 hybrid I have and I know people who have tried G15 and G20 woods and still prefer their current G10s.

A vote for the Titleist 910f & H from me, mine are awesome.

Having said that, your distances are fine so if you're consistent then don't change

The grass isn't always greener. Just because you've hit it once and it went well doesn't mean it is necessarily suited for your game and to be honest there seems little wrong with what you have. I'm as guilty as most for trying different gear (usually out of nothing more than idle curiosity) and it has to be something pretty good these days to tempt me to change my line up.

Yeah I have the MP630 Driver, 4Wood and Hybrid in my carry set and rate them all highly. In fact I hit the 4Wood as far as my Mx700 3Wood, I think (and this goes for the Razr too) the heavier the head the more distance I get.

I cant find anywhere that is selling the Fairways (3&5) and Hybrid now in Stiff.
