Yesterday we had a trip out to St Austell which happens to be my nearest sports direct and as they always have a sale on I popped in to see what gloves they had on offer.
I have been looking for a real leather glove to try for a while as I destroy synthetic gloves as a past time even good quality ones. After a good search I found the only real leather glove they had left on offer at £8 and it my size, tried it on and it fitted, well, like a glove strangely enough!
Went out this evening in the Friday 9 hole comp to try it out properly and it felt a little strange to start with as it didn't feel like I had a glove on at all. Played the best golf I have ever played with 24 points over 9 holes, the glove stayed on the whole 9 without getting sweaty and the grip was amazing.
I will be playing in the rain tomorrow in a comp so I'm interested to see how it performs when wet but I have a few spare synthetic gloves in the bag so it doesn't have to do the full 18.
I will never be wearing a synthetic glove when it's dry again!

Make sure you have a few towels in the bag. I tend to find that they handle a little moisture well and get really tacky. Doesn't take much more moisture before the grip reduces massively and I need to change it.

Good advice. I always carry 2 towels, one for the clubs and one for me, but the forecast is terrible for tomorrow so I'll throw in an extra towel to hang under my brolly to keep it drier for the glove.
I didn't even feel the need to take it off for putting as it didn't feel like I was wearing anything.

On hot days or for sweaty hands you have to go with synthetic. I'm living in the Arizona desert for the time being and leather gloves last 2 minutes. I would go synthetic all day. Cheaper, last longer and if you get a decent one they feel great. Always take your glove off between shots and keep it off for wedge, bunker and putting. They last ages then.

I can't stand non leather gloves, they feel too thick. Real deal for me, I carry 2 so if its hot and gets seats change gloves after 9 holes. (Same for if its raining)

Still looking for a glove which doesn't stretch and become too big after 1 or 2 rounds. I've tried all sorts and have been buying more cheap gloves lately thinking why bother

Srixon cabretta golves are very good, and very good value.
They are pretty robust as well, but are a little bigger than most size wise, i'm normally a M/L in Titleist but wear a M Srixon.

I generally prefer the feel of a full cabretta glove but recently I have been using a couple with leather palms/patches and synthetic backs (FJ GTX and Mizuno Gripflex). Both have performed very well and I think are a good compromise, offering good fit and grip but a bit cheaper and longer lasting that the full cabretta job.

IMO golf gloves are like F1 tyres - you use the slick (all leather) in the dry and the synthetic all weather glove in the wet

Good leather will handle slightly damp - but why bother? I buy 12 leather (bulk £4 each) at the beginning of each season and one all weather every 2 years!

Another Srixon Cabretta fan here.

I don't wear gloves very quickly. Excessive glove wear is a sign of a bad grip apparently, so worth checking.

If it gets wet enough for a leather glove to get a bit greasy, I'm more inclined to go 'naked' - unless it's MacWets weather!

Big fan of the FJ CabrettaSof. Pretty cheap. Like the FJ Sciflex too as they come in a range of natty colours and can match my shoes but I think its just me on that!

That said aren't FJ about to release a new range of synthetic gloves next month? Might take a look at those for the winter as rain and leather gloves never go well together

I can't stand the feel of synthetic gloves. Makes my skin cringe. Nasty stuff.

I use titleist, or Taylor made tour preferred gloves. Footjoy do a silly expensive one too. I rarely pay much less than £17 for a glove. To me, it's worth it.

I find the srixon ones good value, but too wide, and not long enough in the finger.

I try not to wear a glove though. Only when it's a bit sweaty. I take it off between shots too, so it doesn't get too icky.
