Read quite a lot of people posting this goes miles and 3 wood goes as far as their driver. If that's the case I'm seriously considering getting a 3,5 & 7 wood combo and doing away with the big dog altogether. Thoughts?

Sounds fair to me. Anything that makes the game easier, go for it. If you think about it how many times do you hit driver in a round. So if your 3 wood will now go more or less the same distance as the driver. You have a club for off the tee and the fairway. So will get used more. So better value in my book.

Anyone here had a decent test off the RBZ driver yet? What were the results like?

I've seen a few posts mention the increased distance with the 3 wood but haven't seen much regarding the driver yet

not tried one or read much, but there was a guy testing one at the range yesterday and man was he getting some distance! he was getting 250 carry with dodgy range balls dead straight every time. to be fair, he had one of the fastest swings i have seen and could obviously play well... dont know if he bought it in the end?

My coach recently tried them out when they arrived at the Belfry, apparently he got a ball speed of 183 mph.
He hits it miles anyway, but that is impressive.

It's white so not for me. Why don't they make a choice of white or black.

Seriously though, not for me. I have back spin issues with drivers, and so for me, a 13 degree three wood is still going to spin more than a 9 degree driver.

For me also, the 3 wood shaft is way too long for me to control off the fairway, so I would only use it off a tee peg, at which point I may as well carry a driver. I bet the shaft on an RBZ fairway is longer than the shaft on my 4w, and that is as long as I want to go.

I have just brought Driver , 3 Wood and 5 Wood All regular shaft i am playing with them tomorrow for the first time so i will let you know how i get on with them

This is because the 3 wood is focused on more. The fairways and hybrids have a "speed slot" which is apparently what makes the club so long. The driver in the rocketballz range doesn't have this as apparently the MOI would have exceeded the allowed limit, so some people are actually finding the 3 wood goes just as long if not longer than the drivers,

Surely the same rules already apply. Driver, fairawy, hybrids, they are all just golf clubs, and have to conform to the same rules.

I guess the slot is there because the face is smaller than the driver, so they need some other way of getting the COR up to the limit.

Unless you're An exceptionally straight driver I think you've got to draw a line with the amount of distance you want off the tee.
More distance = less margin for error.
How many times during a round do you hit a tee shot and it's a yard or two from serious trouble, it happens to me 2or 3 times most rounds.
At a guess I would say most mid/high handicappers drop most of there shots through getting in trouble off the tee.

My opinion for what it's worth is, Find a head and shaft combo you can hit straight and stick with it and gain confidence with it.

Btw, I also think White drivers look crap!

But what if that extra distance carries you over the trouble?

I have bought Driver and 3 wood not used it on the course yet but at the range the Driver is still longer than the 3 wood. the 3 wood is about the same distance as my old Cobra Driver and the new RBZ is a good 10 yards longer. I had all 3 clubs with me last night for comparison

I know some people struggle with their drivers, but by and large, can't really see why you'd want to give up the biggest and potentially most forgiving club in your bag in favour of a much smaller-headed club? I always like to have at least one club in the bag I feel I might be able to at least make contact with on the 1st tee if I've rushed straight from the car with no warm-up whatsoever!

As far as I'm concerned its a load of old TOSH. Having tried the RBZ timber its not any longer as the 910 currently in my bag. FACT.

As for the driver it launches like a 7 iron, again not for me. Although my experience of TM in general is that they balloon. I'd need a seriously good custom fit to be able to use a TM driver successfully.

I suppose this all depends on the course that is being played.
As I said, if you're reasonably straight off the tee and you can handle a driver with a lengthened shaft then go for it. But if not, is an extra 10 or 15 yards off the tee really worth it.
Surely the amount of times the extra distance is going to carry you over trouble, is at least going to be at least equalled by the amount of times it can get you in trouble.

Would a silly name of a club ever put you off buying it?
you know fellas you play with or other members taking the **** because your clubs called rocketballz lol

If I was hitting my 3W past their drivers I wouldn't really care - however in this case I'm sceptical
