Rats Deserting the Sinking Ship (New Tiger Thread)

Well they can hardly sponsor someone who has given up playing. It was his choice so they are hardly rats.

The giant management consultancy firm Accenture has ended its sponsorship of Tiger Woods, saying the golfer is "no longer the right representative".

This will have more to do with the fact that they do not now when he will play again and actually endorse there product than what he has done. I still don't think Nike will leave him.

Freddie. I am not so sure. Accenture did not suspend advertising when he was out with his knee.

I agree that Nike will not leave him. He is worth too much to their bottom line. Nike are also not too hung up on ethics or good behaviour. It is all just business.

See any photos of TW and you will no doubt clock the Nike swoosh somewhere.
The brand is embedded in Tiger history.

With Lee Westwoods success this last season I'm surprised he's still holding fast with Dunlop! I'm backing him for a major next season.....he's class!

I know what you mean but I don't think it would have gone down well if they dropped him cause he was injured, and this comes within a year of his return from injury, so it would be another period out of the limelight for there highly endorsed and paid billboard - but this way they get to back out and to still take the moral high ground.

I think the timing is good from Accentures point of view with the financial sector worldwide still struggling. His original contract would have been negotiated before the the sub-prime fiasco and so was probably pretty expensive for them given the crash in markets. My take is that any of the sponsors dropping him now will look at him again once he starts playing but any contract offered will be considerably smaller (still huge by anyones standards) than now. Nike will stick with him short of him being guilty of murder or rape as he's that important to them

Maybe it's because no one could give a damn who Accenture are anyway, so wasting money on Tiger was, in hindsight, a waste.

Oh, hold on. I do know what Accenture do...

for legal reasons, RG has stopped posting on this subject as too much of a rant could see me in trouble

Gosh, what a shame

I feel devastated for both parties...... :D

Will Tiger be sporting Dunlop clubs next season?

That is the $million question. If Nike drop him, there's plenty of forumer's who could lend him a set.

He's not having my dymo 3 wood though....

To be honest I do not think Nike have the option to drop him. Nike golf is so intrinsically tied in to Tiger Woods that there is no separating them. Nike has built itself on Tiger and all of their branding is based on or around him. There is simply no separating the two.

Accenture have dropped him, Tag are considering their options,........

The reality is that they will ALL be considering their options, and a lot of Lawyers will be re-reading contracts at the current time, and discussing/suggesting strategies with all of his Sponsors, no doubt.

Globally, they are all facing massive financial shortfalls, and this is possibly the best option they have to cutting out some hefty costs quickly.

Nike may not publicly denounce him, but I'm damn sure they will be re-writing the deals. And if things get worse, anything is possible.

Some may even sue him to recoup, so tarnished is his reputation now.
