Hope this computer doesn’t crash before I can finish this post...
Warning this may bore some of you.
The reason I have posted this is I wanted to get this information down in a table and thought I might aswel share it and see if anyone else keeps an eye on these kind on numbers.
Stats.
So, who keeps them? I think they are a great way to see your game develop up and down over a longer period of time.I keep them and enjoy it! The reason I started keeping stats stems back to my old footballing days when I kept all the programmes from my matches. When I started playing golf I just kept all old scorecards. Around 08, when I joined my club, I started using Scoresaver2 to record my stats. I would go months at a time and not enter any cards and I have only just finished them all now. Although inputting the scores takes less than 60 seconds per round once you get the hang of it. Here are some of my results since I started recording mine in 2008 when I joined the club.
The stats I record are; score (obviously), fairway hit, green in regulation, putts( only count from the green). I normally mark a second card form myself during a medal and record the information on it. This also only takes seconds. I will have probably mislaid a few cards here or there but have entered 86 cards from medals. 17 in 2008, 13 in 2009, 13 in 2010, 15 in 2011 and 26 in 2012 and 2 from 2013
Here are some of my results
Par 69 Front 9 Back 9 Fairways GIR Putts Putts Putts Birdies
Par 35 Par 34 % % Total per GIR per hole
08-13 93.65 47.10 46.55 36 14 33.35 2.08 1.85 24
08 97.89 48.89 49.00 24 9 31.82 2.15 1.77 4
09 96.77 48.15 48.62 31 12 35.69 1.90 1.98 1
10 93.30 47.08 46.22 40 14 34.11 2.09 1.90 0
11 90.87 45.94 44.93 44 16 32.64 2.03 1.81 4
12 91.56 46.16 45.40 38 17 33.42 1.91 1.86 15
13????
Dont check the figures I may have mistyped some!!!
From my point of view it’s great to be able to see some progress as it doesn’t seem like it sometime when I play. Positives so far.
Score to par is improving overall and on both front and back nine
Fairways are improving every year bar last.
GIRs have nearly doubled.
Putting is up and down although 15 birdies and an eagle last year have helped.
I am now looking forward to analysing my score to par for each hole to see where I am losing the most shots and try to bring those numbers further down.
I have left the 2013 blank...wonder what they will look like in 9 months?
Armed with my new mental approach and these figures I now have some real targets to aim at!
Table hasnt worked right...grrrrr looks great on my preview...
