Trying to figure out leave date/start date for new job, coinciding with a family holiday to Scotland. Seems like thanks to the pro rata cut of holiday entitlement, I'm going to be out of pocket by about £500. Understand why etc, but I am not happy about it! No recourse either.

(Nick huffs moodily before returning to his day job with a big baby style sulk on!!)

Why will you be out of pocket?

It happens in any job if you've already used annual leave and / or you leave the company halfway through a month.

Holiday Pay?

Try being a contractor/self-employed!

You know a way you don't have to have the £500 deducted.......

CANCEL THE HOLIDAY MR 4 POINTER :ears:

Try working for yourself and having to work for no pay during your holidays a lot of the time

cant just leave your problems for someone else to sort when there is no one else!!

Could be worse, we lost £650 in May when my wife was rushed to hospital for a five day stay on the day before we were due to go.
No insurance:(

Unless insurance was not available, that was surely your risk/decision/problem!

Presumably, over the years (and in the future), not insuring against such events has saved more money than £650!

It was, with my wife's recent health problems it was a late booking and insurance would have been a no go area.
We have not previously made any claim on insurance.
