Me and 2 mates decided to go to Pryors Hayes nr chester today for a round just for a change of scenery from our course.

Anyway, we ended up after 8 holes being stuck behind a fourball although we had to wait a couple of times it wasn't too bad.

From the 8th we were behind them, they knew how close we were to them.

As we got on the 12th green to put out the fourball were on the 13th tee which is a dogleg left par 4 teeing off, This hole can be reached in 1 if you cut across the 12th green.

One of the fourball who was a young ish lad decided to go for the green in one and topped the ball in our direction, he then decided to reload and this time thinned his tee shot which was heading for us only for it to hit my mates trolley and ricochet off behind us whilst we were putting.

I shouted and asked wtf they were playing at only to be told i didn't see you and sorry half hearted, after a heated discussion and me telling them exactly how i felt about it i told them i'd report it to the pro and i expected better from members.

Now i haven't got a problem with the lad trying to go for the green but at least wait until we've putted out and moved off the green.

I've played there a few times and it's a nice little course but today left a very sour taste and i will definitely not be returning there.

I was absoloutely fuming.

Probably my biggets pet hate.

The mentality is a bit like tailgating i.e. a shot across the bow will speed things up etc. when in fact it's just effin dangerous.

I despair at this sort of behaviour I really do

I've never really found a suitable response to it either

The single biggest turn off to playing a wider range of golf courses than just about anything else. You have my sympathy

Why let the behaviour of one idiot stop you going back, it's not the course or the club's fault? :D

The best response is to hit their ball back to them.

I absolutely say that there is no excuse for what they did, but that hitting the ball back at them is even more stupid. Not only could that end up in a fight, if you hit one of them there is no Court in the land who wouldn't find against you, should the person you hit claim against you.

Go back and speak to them, complain to their club by all means but don't make youself worse than them

Possibly not, but if a par 4 is driveable by cutting the corner and playing over the previous green, there should be a sign either at the green itself advising players to stand aside whilst the group in front tees off, or at the tee telling players to wait until the previous green is clear.

Another solution would have been to stand aside and let the 4 ball take their drives. From what you say, your group was in no danger of slow play. :)

It really is a shame when this sort of thing spoils the enjoyment of YOUR day out.

The fourball in question were members of the club which i found even more frustrating and they should know better.

Also i think their blatant bullshit to say" i never saw you" when we've clearly been behind them takes the piss.

I spoke to the pro he apologised and said he will speak to them.
