How do these crazy folk arrive with these bizarre rankings??

1st Golf Monthly,next I give you this...

:D

Notable acts of madness are....

North Berwick above Royal Aberdeen,Machrahanish, Castle Stuart and Western Gailes?

Nairn above Western Gailes and Castle Stuart?

The Roxburghe as high as it is?

I could go on.......crazy madness and I haven't even started on England yet!! :D

I cannot comment on too many but I am amazed that Nairn came in above Castle Stuart, for sheer eye candy, it is leagues above Nairn, which I found quite unremarkable landscape wise.
Forgetting the greens as I have no doubt they are usually ten times better, I like to have a slightly hilly course that has a course carved into it. Nairn was really quite flat bar two holes on the inlad side. The top 8 seems fair to me from what I have seen on tv, I would say each of them have the right to be in the top flight and intend to play every one of them in the coming few years.

Both clubs i'm a member at are in the top 50, get in. :D :D :D

Castle Stuart is nice but not £155 nice IMO. The holes by the water are good but the rest unremarkable.

For what it's worth, I prefer Muirfield to the Ailsa and also think Macrihanish should be much higher.

Nairn 13, Spey Valley 33 and Boat 47 - crazy. ok none where in condition when we played them but reverse that order surely - not that Boat should be as high as 13 of course

You are judging Nairn on playing once at the end of a harsh winter and during renovations for the Curtis cup in 2012. If you played it in the Middle of summer you would have a dif opinion.

Spey vally i think 33 is good for them considering its closed for 5 months of the year.

I aint Patrick,I have played Nairn when it was in good nick but found it to be a fairly bland course on a bland bit of land, nice enough but not with the wow factor.

Dodger, this comment was for Viscount17. if you played it when it was at its best, then i don't have an issue with that. You are entitled to your opinion. :p

patrick, I can only go by what I experienced. I also played Spey Valley and Boat under the same conditions. Admittedly I wasn't also fighting the revenge of the curry when I played those two :o

I'm more than willing to shown that I may have maligned it. ;)

my point was you didn't play these courses under the same conditions. Castle Stuart a new course that was closed for 6 months before you played it. Spey Vally closed for 5 months of the year. Boat of Garten under snow for much of the winter so no one plays over the winter. Nairn open apart from when they had snow and still gets a lot of traffic over the course. They even still get large groups play the course over winter.
