With my birthday and christmas coming up i'm considering an indulgent purchase and wondered what make and model people recommend in the sub £300 bracket . It seems Nikon and Bushnell lead the market with Golfbuddie now trying to gain a share . Any advice, referrals or even horror stories are gratefully received.
 
I have just purchased the Bushnell v3 jolt.
When I first tried out someones I knew straight away I had to have one.
The thing that made me choose the v3 was the jolt the v3 gives you when you have locked
on the flag,this tells me the target has been found and trust me when I say how quick it is.
I have also used it recently to check my yardages with every club up to my 5 iron.
I have used other lasers and have found it quite hard to pick up the flag without pressing the
button 5 or 6 times.
These can be purchased for about £220-£240 so a little bit of your budget left.
 
Having hands that aint the steadiest I stayed away from these and everyone I tried I was hopeless with until I also tried the Bushnell V3 and agree it's a superb piece of kit. I also then went out and bought one.

Always found the going rate was £269 but I bought mine in the US for under £200.

Cracking things, the more simple the better. Point and shoot!

It does add a little bit to the old pre shot routine. For me the biggest thing is confidence, I KNOW I have the right club so all I have to do is slap a good swing on it. Just like in putting, once I pick a line all I need to focus on is pace.

I was lucky, I picked mine up 2nd hand for about £100, still going strong years later and works a peach! It has helped me to many a good score and made practice more productive.

If you can get the course to yourself, on a flat hole you can test distances with a few balls. I also used it on the practice area to get my half and 3/4 wedge distances nailed down with my own balls.
 
If anyone is interested, I have a Bushnell pro 1600 that I was going to list on ebay soon, had it around 10 months and never been out the house! in original box and has case and all original contents, looking for £125 posted.

Well it all depends if there is a local rule - if there is one in place allowing DMD then it must not have slope information I believe or wind info etc

That and the sharpness and quickness of finding the pin

It jolts when it has the pin

Trialled it against a Nikon and Bushnell was picking up the pin in fading light better and quicker than the Nikon

Im set on getting a Bushnell definitely but just need to decide on whether to get the v2 or the v3
