Went to the range tonight and ended up totally bored trying to hit my pitching wedge 200 yards because it is that bland and plain...

How do you range lovers do it??? i would like to kow becuase i really cant hack it.

For me range sessions are a necessity especially after lessons. I struggle to work on the drills and it takes me time to get the changes set. Yes it is boring and yes there are more interesting things I could be doing (like starting threads on Pedros) but I see it as a means to an end.

How far did you get the wedge to go

Also homer how do you know what you have been taught is working when you do not have the definition of a hole to judge against i know it could be to cement a swing plain but surely thats still better done on the course???

I tend to agree. For me I now try and use the range to cement the feeling (I work on how the swing feels as opposed to getting it at such an angle at point x) and once I get to that stage measured by balls going repeatedly where I'm aiming thats good enough. Its when I then step onto the course my problems start. Its all part of the advice I got on here to stop being so overly thought orientated and go out and play. The range is for grooving and the course is for testing the swing

I'm guessing 260 was into the wind then

Homer, cut oot all that stuff and hit it off turf. :)

You see the way i see it and i am not disagreeing with what you are saying is if you cement a swing on the course when it comes to a comp you are going to have more of an idea to how the swing will react oppose to testing the swing on the course where there will be a chance of it not working...

Oh and it was a cross wind ;)

I enjoy the range and only wish I made more time for it. I think I could happily put 3 hours a day in.
I've had day long practise sessions before where I hit some balls and end up down there 8 hours because I'm happy knocking away ball after ball.
My game really does feel better on the course when I've been getting down the range a bit, always end up playing too much. TBH I get bored playing all the time when I know my time would be better spent on the range and I'd probably have more fun.
I'm not sure why people would try anything different out on the course without trying to groove it on the range as I've only seen it spoil rounds for people.

Plug in your headphones, take some sandwiches and fruit and a drink and find your game. Gets rid of all those stupids walking bits between shots.

Not all ranges are featureless fields. Some do have defined greens to aim at. ;)

I head down to the range with my ipod. I find it staves off boredom and with the right choice of music improves my tempo.

An experiment with speed garage failed miserably. ;)

a bit of Grime then?

Play the range like u are playing a Course!!
Tee off with driver then visualise second shot select club as if going for green and so on!
Hitting 200 balls with same club will be brain dead stuff, turn around and watch the paint dry on the freshly painted range wall will be more interseting than what your are doing now!!
