Me being a spring chick an all! I have just graduated from uni

Had a job interview of which i incurred travel expenses however i was unsuccessful and there has been no mention of refund ect...

In my time of uncertainty... and with the plethora of professionalism on this forum...

Is this common practise and should i chase this up?

You see i am new to this job application business! and somewhat naive it may appear!

Thanks as always :D

I'd chase it up.
And as the gits didn't give you the job I'd add a couple of hundred miles on top. And tell them I drove my Hummer up there.

Haahaha Brilliant i may just!

Seriously though dont have anything to lose so il send the email!

There's no harm in asking I guess, especially if you didn't get the job. However, in my personal experience (also graduated this summer) if the firm have a policy of reimbursement of travel expenses, they will let you know.

Out of interest, what did you study and how did you do? Good luck on the job search. Mine was fairly extensive, but ended up with me being offered my dream graduate job in London!

Been a while since I graduated but then it was very unusual to pay travel expenses to interviewees. There were a few big firms in London who interviewed loads of applicants and paid expenses so everyone used to apply to get a free day out in the City.

I studied accounting and finance.

I have been working in Pizza Hut's head office in finance (specifically fixed assets), but from 1 September I start on a graduate scheme with a firm in central doing UK/US expatriate tax.

Taxation is what I want to get into, so delighted to get that job.

EDIT: 2:1 for me too pal.

Some larger companies will cover expenses, but it tends to be mentioned at some stage. Ie you will need to bring receipts for your travel etc. If not mentioned, it's unlikely they'll pay up.

I once had several interviews with a well known large leisure attraction. No expenses covered despite the distance travelled. I had to do a case study, and I spent the day there making observations and notes. The next two interviews revolved around this. The job was as retail director.

I didn't get the job, (second doesn't count!). But what really bugged me was that they went and made a lot of the changes that I'd brought up at the interview.

I really felt like sending them a consultation fee.

They said they wanted a retail director, but took my ideas and employed another bean counter.

Taking the mick as far as I was concerned.
