Just checked our local Surrey town centre chippie. Cod and chips - £11.60; Haddock and chips £12.85. Some interesting price inflation happening some places.
I think we did throw some away.Do you not find one portion of chips is enough for two people? Every fish & chips I ever get, even the smallest chip portion is absolutely huge.
Lucky you got through, its been closed for a while now.Again, motorway speed limits.
M6 northbound through Birmingham this morning. 5.30am. Hardly any traffic. But I still hit the permanently set 50, 40, 50, 40 on successive gantries with the final two warning of a queue ahead. This despite there being literally half a dozen vehicles ahead of me, with no lane closures or any obstruction. And the limits have to be adhered to because of the plethora of speed cameras.
Ludicrously crass mismanagement by National Highways.
Throwing it away at that price?!I think we did throw some away.
It was part of the meal deal.
Plus anything we don’t eat we leave on the side and the boy will eat.
It’s like having a mouthy ugly Labrador
I don’t miss that journey. Doing it every week for 4 years was a joke, empty road but no you have to stick to the Smart motorway limit of 40! Got my speed awareness and 3 points due to that road. Driving toward Stafford could see the speed limit was 50 as I joined the from the slip road they changed in the Gantry to 40, no chance of slowing in time as I was merging and would’ve caused a pile up on the slip road had I slowed so I get collared for pointsAgain, motorway speed limits.

Cod is definitely the most common down this way.Does no one down sarf eat proper fish & chips (ie haddock)?
I know Liverpool was mainly cod but we are in world of our own.
Some are selling generic white fish now to keep costs down. Pollock is one type, I'm sure there are others.Does no one down sarf eat proper fish & chips (ie haddock)?

You only have one option.Irritation isn't correct, just more of a stressful situation - my daughter's best friend's parents called to say that Granny is about to pass away, they've gone to the hospital and could I pick up both girls from nursery for an impromptu playdate. Of course I said yes, but my wife is away this week so I will be outnumbered! Peak dad mode enabled, wish me luck...![]()
People who require a read receipt on an email
that’s a new one on meIf we get fish and chips we go to one of our local shops. Cheapy Tuesday is 2 fish, 1 large chips and 2 sides for £15. Will usually freeze some of the chips.
Every chippie I know of down this way sells both Cod and Haddock, a handful sell Plaice as well. I just prefer bettered cod over all the other options.Does no one down sarf eat proper fish & chips (ie haddock)?

We've just had literal thunderstorms and I'm sure there's potentially more on the way.You only have one option.
Take them to the local park where you can use other parents for back up.
It’s the only way you will make it out without scars that never heal![]()
Just don’t let them get you alone. We've just had literal thunderstorms and I'm sure there's potentially more on the way.
Nothing wrong with Pollock. Best fish & chips I ever had was pollock+chips in a restaurant in London (The Bank). Some are selling generic white fish now to keep costs down. Pollock is one type, I'm sure there are others.

To me tastes wise pollock is far superior to codNothing wrong with Pollock. Best fish & chips I ever had was pollock+chips in a restaurant in London (The Bank).
Mind you it did cost £16, about 20 years ago. (Fortunately I wasn't paying).
