Went on the BBC website today ahead of the England game and saw the whole Brian Blessed, Henry V, St Crispin's Day number and it got me thinking.

I am by far a better player now than I was 3 months ago yet I still score the same. I'm hoping to break that and the 100 barrier soon. So I'm asking you to inspire me to success with your own tales of suddenly making a massive break through.

Leave nothing out. Why were you down on your golf, what had you tried to remedy it, what was the break through, how did it make you feel. A thread full of positivity please.

Ta muchly.

Went from nothing to 4 h/cap in a year.... although I did basically play every single day. It also included a round of 2 under par at a course called Slinfold in Sussex.

Now that is impressive! I do feel if I could at least play 36 holes a week as well as a trip t the range I'd get a lot better much more quickly. I do envy my friends who are teachers and could be out every day in the summer!

That said I think I'd have struggled to get down to 4 and play a round under par in year one!!!!

Anymore stories out there? Bit of a rousing whimper rather than rallying cry at the mo....

Perhaps your 5 year mission is 4 years too long?! :-)

Only started playing golf 18 months ago as i bought a house 300 yrds away from a golf course,i had only played pitch and putt as a youngster.I joined this club and started to play on my own when one day two players asked me if they could join me as i approached the tenth hole.I then started playing with one of them regulary and he suggested i went for a handicap,i did this and got my first handicap of 24.I started to play 3 times a week and practiced twice a week whilst reading books and watching videos on the internet,i am now playing off 11.I also play my dads course in Ilfracombe now and again when i first played there i was shooting 120+ now my best is 76.I remember the first time i broke 100 i was on 79 with 3 holes left and shot 5/10/5 on two par 3s and a par four for a score of 99.
