Hi all,

my R9 currently has the Fujikura Motore shaft in it, Reg flex.

My irons have DG R300 shafts in them, do you think the Reg shaft in the driver is correct, it does feel a bit soft and I'm thinking I could pick up a more suitable one off ebay and swap it out. Any recommendations?

My handicap is now 12

many thanks

M

The stock R9 shaft is pretty soft. It is not a 'real' Motore, which is a pretty good shaft, but a special version made for TM.

You should be able to get another shaft with an adapter fitted, but the question is what would be suitable?

If you are ever up Basingstoke way, there is a very good guy who does TM fitting (official TM fitter), and he could probably order you a new shaft if you wanted one from TM in TM colours. Otherwise, ebay is probably your best bet.

Excellent, thanks for the help, Basingstoke isnt too far and could be an option.

Are there any brands to avoid or choose over another if I go the ebay route?

There are so many shafts available nowadays - the new Titleist 910 has 83 custom shafts available! All are suitable for one player or another, and no doubt many would be suitable for you.

A proper fitting will answer the question, but in the meantime, what are you looking for? Low, high, anti-hook, anti-slice, heavy, light feeling?

You could try this for a start:

http://www.truetemper.com/shaftfit/

It only covers True Temper brands, but will give an idea for a starting point.

Oh i see the problem, 83 does give a few options.

My good drives go straight but low and about 230 at the moment, bad ones high and right with a bit of slice and into the trees.

True temper site advised the grafalloy prolaunch axis red stiff.

cheers
