R11 irons

Tricky question.
Would need more info really.
Like your h/cap
What do you have at the moment
How often do you practice/play
What's you ambition in golf
What's your budget?

Unless you have your heart set on the R11's then try other makes out and get a fitting. You will be surprised at the difference a good fitting will make and any preconception of brand may just go out the window.

I bought the R11's as I wasn't doing justice to my old TM TP's. It was perhaps a step backwards in terms of a chunkier looking club, bigger cavity, etc but it has been a positive move. I am getting more distance, better results with poor connections and when I do hit them well a better flight.

There are lots of decent GI sets out there so it would pay to try as many as you can in as many shaft specs as possible (one manufacturers stiff is close to anothers regular etc) and see which you hit best. If you have got your eye on te R11's I can recommend them

As I posted in a different thread, I opted for the CG16's which was my choice, the guy who fitted them said the R11 and the CG16 were almost identical in the results I was acheiving. He told me he could've fitted the same shaft to the R11's as I tried with the CG16's but because it wasn't a common line that Taylormade carried it would cost me and additional £8 per club as Taylormade would then think of the clubs as custom.

The R11's were a damn good club and I was really close to having them instead of the CG16's but the extra £60 I saved on not get the custom shafted R11's means, I now get to buy a Cleveland lob wedge to go with my new CG16's :)

I had a fitting for new clubs last October, having started playing regularly in May. I was given several different irons to try, all had the brand names etc taped over so I didn't know which was which. The fitter (Snainton Golf Centre PGA pro) narrowed the choice to two and the final selection turned out to be the TM R11's.

I have played with the fitted R11 set since last November and have seen a great improvement in ball striking, flight and distance. However I have also been having lessons over the same period so that may be due in part to an improvement in technique on my part as well as the irons.

I have little or no experience of other comparable sets of irons but can say I am more than happy with my R11's.

I am 20 hc and went for the burner 2.0 over the r11 irons. They felt much better to me personally, and we're 200 quid cheaper! Why not have a look at the rbz (Rocketballz) irons? They have replaced the burners and are supposed to be pretty nice! I dare not hit any new clubs now in case I fall in love! Hit a TM cb at the range a few weeks back nd loved it! Must not buy any new clubs!!!
