What an absolute shocker to come off the course to. The greatest politician of my generation, nay the last 50 years (John smith might have had something to say about that if he'd lived)

A very sad day for Scottish politics and Scotland. A very relieved Nicola Sturgeon tonight

I had huge respect for John Smith.

Politics are banned so I won't talk about his politics but , it is certainly appropriate to pay respects to an important figure in Scotland's recent history and offer condolences to his family.

As have many folk who I've seen pause to view his resting place on Iona.

Very sad news indeed…

And mention in passing of John Smith…yes I too can recall vividly when I heard the news and circumstances of his death and of me talking of it with my parents…both of whom were also deeply saddened.
