Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I bet the Committee guy that reviewed the drop and concluded that it was Ok felt a twit!

decent explanation, and what we all know should of happened, should of happened other than the green jackets making a right mess of things. Twit is possible not the word hes been called by the rest of the commitee!
Would of been clearer if they explained the decision better at the time?

utter cop out and a con, they saw the same evidence on video as we did and you could see his drop was a good few yards behind his original stroke, they hoped it would blow over and not be an issue,as for not speaking to TIGER he admitted they had spoken to him and that everything was ok before he signed his card, being ignorant of any rule in golf isn't a basis to not take the punishment,TIGER new what he had done the COMMITEE new what he had done but chose to invoke a rule that was never meant for this situation, the bottom line is they needed TIGER there to give it qudos as a major,it should have its major status taken away and if not the rules should be set by the R&A,USGA and not by the green jacket brigade.

I still find it hard to believe that a viewer, watching what we were all watching, was able to determine that Tiger's drop was incorrect, was able to get in touch with the Augusta Tournament Committee, who were then able to get hold of and review footage of the drop and make a decision in the hour or so between the drop and Tiger signing his card....

Thanks for that BT. Answers a lot of questions.[/QUOTE it raises more questions than it answers, firstly THEY didn't wish to revue the drop and tried to shut the caller up,then with all the modern tech only decided to revue the tape AFTER he had signed his card and THEN decide it was ok and to proceed would be splitting hairs !!!! even though they new he had broken the rules,WHY if they were going to penalise him 2 shots didn't they do it before he left, why wait to phone him if they had all the facts a good hour before he signed,as i said a con and a cover up,WOODS admitted to breaking the rules and should have been DQ'D on the spot.

I also think it's a cop out and I can see more of this nonsense happening. IMHO Tiger went away with a load of cash that he should never have got......denying others who played by the rules that cash. It also showed the side of Tiger that some of us knew exsisted. He should have DQ himself.

We're not going to rehash this all over again are we? According to the rule makers, he was within the rules.

Seems like a PR mans dream that statement. How to criticise the Masters committee without actually doing so. Still think the whole thing was a farce because it was Woods and I don't care but anyone else in the field would have been gone. It isn't anti-Tiger as I like watching him as a golfer (everything else I have no interest in) and pleased to see him back to form but he definitely got preferential treatment

I just think that the R&A, USPGA and PGA should all ignore telephone referee's. Cant people get a life and just enjoy what they are watching, these are the sort of people that call in to ITC etc to point out continuity errors.

If Tiger hadn't have said anything about dropping it 2 yards further back it would be a total non issue. I don't even know how he knew for definate he was in exactly the same spot? Would you know if you walked down to the drop zone and then had to walk back to where you took the original shot from?

From reading the article, several times until my brain hurt a little, the basis for Woods not being DQ'ed is that both TW and the Masters committee made a hash of it.
