Hi newbie here, just wondered if anybody on here has played at Quinta Do Lago , I picked up a 5 night stay at a charity golf day so am looking to play 4 rounds , just got to sort out the golf before we go so interested in anyones thoughts about the different courses.

I played Quinta South a few years ago and loved it, but during the last two years I have gone for Laranjal. It's a top quality course, in immaculate condition, with some of the most treacherous greens I have putted on anywhere. Well worth a visit.

I used to go there every February, but haven't been for a few years now, mainly because you coudn't guarantee the weather at that time of the year, but the courses were superb. When you drive through the gates at the top of the estate and down the road towards the courses it is like being in gof heaven! Enjoy.

you can't go wrong with whatever course/courses you play............it will be in sunshine and in great condition........what else do you want:smirk:

Both North & South are great courses. Only played Laranjal once, just after it opened. It is flat and is walkable even in the middle of Summer.

We are heading back for two weeks at the end of July and beginning of August and will play all three plus Vale do Lobo Ocean, which is really nice

There are one or two steep walks round Laranjal, but I agree it is comfortably walkable. That said, we have always had a buggy included in the price, so have tended to use one. There are some cracking holes, and the course when we last played in February was absolutely immaculate. As for those holes which stick in my mind, the second par three on the front has played over 200m from the yellows whenever we have been there, with OOB all the way down the left and a severely sloping, tiered green. Par is a great score!

I agree about VDL Ocean too. A really good track with some stunning views, especially on the back nine. I particularly love the view as you walk over the crest of the hill at 11 with the ocean in front of you, and that incredible glass villa in the trees. I was told that holiday pad used to belong to Luis Figo, but has been bought by Alan Shearer. I don't know how true that is, but the England football squad have used the estate for training in the past, so keep an eye out for him!!

It is some house, not my cuppa tea with the grand piano et al but stunning views. It was up for sale a few years ago asking price was €10m!
