We've been debating at work just how the four lane new bridge replacing the four lane old bridge is going to ease congestion...

From a programme I was watching on the box. The new design will allow faster traffic because there will be fewer times when the speed will be restricted by high winds.

Yes but that's a tiny proportion of current traffic so unless it encourages people out of their cars....

Hmm... that's not going to help most days though.

Obviously we needed a new bridge due to the increasing dilapidation of the old one but I'm struggling to get my head round claims of decreased congestion. However, I will live in hope but perhaps not as much as my colleagues from fife who face the bridge on a daily basis.

Someone told me there will be hard shoulders allowing obstructing vehicles to be removed which may help things a touch, though not drastically.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth is Queen of Scots.
Scotland will seek independence from the United Kingdom.
