Played in the January medal in miserable conditions on Saturday, several winter greens in play and the 15th had the tee pushed forwards at least 150 yards owing to a Water logged fairway.

I continued my rubbish form in comps, but was still disappointed to get notification of another 0.1 back.

I thought if the course length was reduced by more than 100 yards then it couldn't be qualifying?

Point your committee to Clause 13.1 of the CONGU manual.

13.1 When, to allow for the use of temporary, or alternative, tees and not more than two temporary greens:- the length of a course has been reduced or increased by not more than 100 yards (91 metres)from the length of the Measured Course, the Standard Scratch Score remains unaltered.- to allow work to proceed on course alterations it may be necessary to reduce or increase the playing length of the Measured Course by between 100 and 300 yards (91 and 274 metres). In these circumstances, the club must reduce or increase as the case may be the Standard Scratch Score of the Measured Course temporarily by one stroke and report to the Union, or Area Authority if so delegated, such alteration and appropriate reasons. The club must also notify the Union or Area Authority when the course has been restored to its measured length and the official Standard Scratch Score re-instated.

13.2 Any variations to the above must be referred for consideration to the Union or Area Authority if so delegated.

If the Temporary Green has been set in place because of fairway flooding then this is not "to allow work to proceed on course alterations".

If the course has been altered because of weather conditions then it is safer to make the competition a non-qualifying one. Like rule fan says, have a chat with the Committee.

I was advised some years ago that if more than 2 temp greens were in play the round must/should be non-qualifying. I can't find the note at present to confirm whether it was should or must.
I have a note that says if more than 50% of bunkers are out of play it must be a non-qualifier.

As it happens the 15th was also on a temporary green, but half that fairway has been closed for weeks now (tee was perhaps another 50 yards forward if where it has been recently.

I seem to recall that the course has been measured for winter, though I'm now unsure as to whether that was winter tee's, winter greens or both.

The course was set up with all winter tee's and 7 temporary greens.

The winter tees are not in themselves a problem unless it seriously affects the length. However, 7 greens are a worry if it was declared a qualifier. You may wish to take advice from your county.

Or, of course - but occasionally blundered about  if the Temporary greens have the large 'bucket' holes! I had to remind a couple of supposedly qualified folk (and involve the County!) that, Though their desire was commendable, this instantly made the comp NQ, in spite of their, and the Club Captain's, protests!
