If I don't they will end up on ebay! A few weeks ago I couldn't do anything wrong, shot 40+ two weeks in a row, I really started to think I'd cracked it. Then it suddenly goes downhill, and keeps going. Today was the lowest point, I played like someone who has never hit a ball before, and I've somehow developed a huge hook for no obvious reason. I feel like I'm swinging OK, just the ball will not go any where near where I want it to. To my shame I completely lost my rag towards the end of the round and wrapped one of my clubs round a tree in frustration. Think a winter break might be in order!

Welcome to the world of a amateur handicap golfer

We will all have the good days and the bad days.

Bad days I can take, bad weeks stretch the patience a bit more!

It's only a couple weeks ? Couple weeks ago you were scoring 40+ points !!

I had a period of 6 months plus of bad golf - people have periods of years of bad golf .

Winter isnt always the greatest time for people game - especially scoring

Wouldn't let it worry you too much

This time of year, Golf is really just an excuse to get out of the house into the open air and meet up with mates! The fat shots, duffed chips and lack of run are all 'part of the fun'! :D

So not a time to take bad shots/rounds seriously, though always a pleasure to remember the good ones!

Of course, those at links courses don't really notice much difference - bit less run, rough lies down flat and the colder wind is about it!

I feel the pain. Feel like I've been hitting well at the range but as soon as I step onto the course at the moment it's back to a whole host of inconsistent shots. This weekend I have mainly been hitting right. Not a little at times, but over the next fairway sort of right almost a 45 degree block. It isn't a slice and the strike is solid.

It's frustrating as I was hitting it well a few weeks back especially in my winter knockout match. Will I consider a break? Not on your nelly and will just keep battling on regardless knowing I can do it, I just need to remember more often how

I had a few poor weeks recently. 3 range visits and went back to my old Nike pro combo irons and I am right as rain again.

Even took a quid of liverbirdie today. That hasn't happened in a while. :whoo:

No one has ever improved sitting at home!

Sometimes a little break can help sounds like you need one.
As you are aware anger will not help with your obvious frustrations.
When you get to the point of wrapping a club around a tree a break is
what you need and come back all guns blazing.

Same old story

Yeah, my local range does a roll up coaching session on a thursday night, might go along. Its bound to be something small and simple that has crept into my swing over the last few weeks. Hopefully my 9i will have a new shaft by then...

Too true

Get down to the range, nice slow rhythmic swings, don't try and smash it and all will seem better - trust me I know a doctor!

I get out my regular shafted Nike pro combos. I played with these for years. They are the clubs that got me down to singles. I seem to swing smoother with these in hand as I subconsciously know I can't lash at they like a madman. It always gets me back in the groove.
