Struggling a lot with the short stick recently. Bad ones are straight pulls, worse from 2/3ft. I try alot to have a straight back straight through stroke and have found that face balanced putters suit that stroke type better. I have a ping answer tr ATM. Anyone recommend a face balanced putter for me? Also, would a face balanced, centre shafted putter suit this stroke type?

From what I've been looking at the anser putter is better suited to a slight arc path. Face balanced for a straight back and through. Most manufacturers will say which are which I know pings and odysseys do.

I very much doubt your putter is the problem tbh.

Try a putting lesson with your pro I reckon it'll be at least 80% cheaper than a new putter!

I'm having the same problem with my ping pal recently, pulling quite a few to the left from around 2 feet . Annoying but not the putters fault , because it was ok a few weeks ago.

Have a #7 Tank Really good putter.

Have to say though it is probably just a confidence thing, once you hole a few your confidence will build and you will be draining them again no problem.

Which Anser model do you have?

I'm sure the Anser 5 is Face balanced, but the other Anser models do have varying toe hang to suit different arc strokes.

If you are missing from 2-3 feet it's not the putters fault, it's your technique.
During your stroke, are your elbows tucked in or out to the side ?

Elbows are nowhere near my body. Every putt Im mising left he utter I have suits an arced stroke, so the toe will take over at impact no?

Just let me blame the putter!!!!

get a new putter, its not you, a new putter that suits your eye, feels comfortable for length and off the face will change your putting game overnight- guaranteed!

I've struggled for years, head full of spaghetti (like yours) of stroke path, face or toe balanced, center shafted blah blah blah

putting really isnt difficult if you have a comfortable tool- ooeerr missus - anyone can do it, check out the seaside putting greens, kids and grannies holing putts from everywhere:whoo: while hubby (who is a golfer) contorts himself into what he's been told is the right posture and tries to "rock the shoulders" "SBST" and 3 putts the muni putting green while holding up Maw Paw and the weans behind him who've just aced again:rolleyes:

Well clearly off 4, you can putt, & play, thats beyond question.
Similarly, if the putter's been with you for a while, it can work, and has done..... No ?

That said, I'm a firm believer in 'tinkering' with something thats not working, and if that putter has lost its appeal, go ahead and change it, - I just have !!

I've always used Odyssey putters, because I thought I liked the insert's, and for ages, my 2Ball worked, but I tired of its looks, and therefore didnt 'embrace' the art of putting like we should.
Picked up a 330 White Ice too,......but similarly, just didnt inspire me....... (hence both for sale).

Nipped along to a Scotty Cameron Putter Demo day on monday, and literally tried all of them, with a Scotty Fitter who tweaked and suggested what he thought suited me best, based on my stroke.
Now, I dunno whether they had picked a spot on the putting green that had tramlines to the 1st hole, but I swear I holed more 15' putts with a couple of the models, than I would have done if I'd stood there all day with my Odysseys ! Literally - 4/5 in a row at one point !

Hence, I bought a Newport Fastback, and have been on my own Putting Green for the last 3 days more than I have ever been on it in the last 10years, and am really looking forward to working on holing more putts this summer, - in fact, after last Saturday, when I had 34putts, ie a 1.88/per hole average, - I've made a chart and am aiming to get that down to an average of 1.75/per hole before season end.
Doesnt sound much difference perhaps, but 31/32 putts per round just might help me get down a couple of shots just as easy as ANY other aspect of the game.

So go ahead, go for a fitting, get a Putter you really love, and get to love using it !

Off 4, you're stroke must be ok, its just a confidence thing. A Scotty might help ;):D

get a counter balance and brush in two footers like they are tap ins they are. extra weight stops the putter from twisting! it isn't rocket science, its simple physics!
