Despite it being the worse part of my game, I never really thought about having a putting lesson. I always though it was a question of feel and touch, and you either had it or you hadn't. However today I went for my lesson I was asked what I wanted to work on today. I said that the worse parts of my game were certain chips and putting, so my pro said we will look at your putting.

To my surprise, he watched me and changed my stance and my stroke, it feels a bit weird but I am going to stick with it.

Do most people who have lessons have ones for putting?

Im now a fairly good putter, after being relatively erratic.
I got a couple of pointers from the best putter in our group.
Sometimes it just takes someone to have a quick look, its amazing what people see
from the outside that we from the inside just cant see.
Also have you thought about being fitted?,it worked for me.

Yes Louise. Really worked on it last year with a couple of intensive lessons to improve my technique (way too strong an arc) and then was fitted for my new putter. I believe once I have/understand the technique, and am confident with it, I can relax and let feel do the rest. I putt so much better since the changes although try to practice too so I don't slip back into bad habits.

My coach used the zenio putting system and gave some very useful feedback.

Got a lesson in a putting lab at Pachesham as part of my short game evaluation which should be interesting http://www.pacheshamgolf.co.uk/sam_putting_studio.htm

I've had a number of lessons over the years, usually revolving around address position and takeaway (too inside). Haven't had one for several years so looking forward to seeing what they recommend, especially in terms of whether the putter I have suits

I had one looked mainly at ball position and also at getting a more consistent strike.

I now practise at home in the mirror, I set up so my outer hip is on the edge of the mirror and slow definite prsctise strokes watching that my lower half and head stay perfectly still.

I also place a 5p on the floor at around 5 feet then create a gate with 2 balls set far enough apart to only just allow the head of the putter through. On the practise green you can put to a tee and use 2 tee's in the ground as a gate. Create you drill area on the most level part of the green you can find and just concentrate on a stable base, still head and consisten strike. I aim to hit the tee 10 in a row and wont leave till I have done it.

When you take this to the course it reading the green that lets most people down. If you start your putt on target most of the time thats all it can be, or the speed.

My problem has always been waggling the putter about, to try and counteract this started holding my putter close to my body my theory being nearer the body less movement. At the lesson today I have been told amongst other thngs to do the opposite and hold the putter further away from my body, it certainly seemed smoother but very alien.

I've had 1 and that was about 2 years a go as i didn't know if i was doing anything wrong.

The only real problem was that my stance was closed which caused me to pull putts, i think you can look into putting way too much and it can cause so many problems.

It's all about confidence with me, if i hole a few decent putts early on i think i'm going to hole everything and i don't think about technique.

Not had a putting lesson, but last time I had a playing lesson my pro had a look. It has transformed my putting, I'm more consistant and hole more putts. I have thought about having one but I've never really thought there's much too it, and more a question of experience and practice.

I tried the new technique in todays roll up, the result 5 3putts in 11 holes, I spent a long time on the putting green afterwards.
