Played this morning and one of my FC had changed from his regular putter with an insert to a Scotty.

He says he does this every winter because he feels in the winter on softer slower greens he feels the ball comes of the face a bit "hotter" but the slow greens balance it out. With this he can keep the same putting stroke through the year and hit it with the same power.

I never really thought about it before but watching him today and I could see what he meant. He didn't seem to have to give it a bit more where as I could feel I was.

Anyone else witnessed this or even do it themselves ?

No. So a 5ft putt in winter is really a 3ft putt in summer? Why not just hit it like a 7ft summer putt? Why change to a putter you're not used to when all you have to do is hit it a little harder?

I understand the logic but really don't agree with it.

He said so he can keep the same stroke for the same distance putt and it seemed to work today

I like the slower greens. I am loving the putter I have and the pro core fitted is really helping on off centre hits. Most of all though I can hit the five footers with more authority knowing it won't go miles past if I miss. That is making me put a more positive stroke on it

I used to but current putter is more of a slow greens putter, these days im more likely to go to something else on really quick greens (albeit i only have 1 putter again currently :) )
