Played in the medal today with couple of Mates.

One had a 10 footer for birdie and walked of with an 8...... 6 putts.

Went to tap in a footer knocked two foot past, missed etc, etc.

Ive had the odd 4 putt but never seen a six putt before.

this goes through my head when I see people putting like clowns. been guilty of it myself at times :o

My missus was putting for a birdie from the back of the green on a par 3 in the mixed comp we played last night - i was standing at the front of the green - had to lift my bag to avoid the ball shooting past me - it missed a bunker and then took the curve of the fairway and back into the bunker on the far side - meaning it was left on a downslope - I got it out and she was putting from around 25 feet for a four - Predictably, after having hit her first putt with what looked like a full swing, she left it well short - probably fifteen feet short - easy six

Don't remember ever taking more than 5 putts, even when I developed a bad case of the yips! But I guess most of us have done something similar at least once in their golfing lives! :)

In last weeks medal I was on the green for 3 on our first which is a difficult dog leg par 4, 10ft above the flag. Good start I thought, should be an easy 5, knock it in or close and in a worst case scenario it should be a nice easy 2ft putt

The greens have been pretty good lately but what I hadn't anticipated was lipping the hole and going 6ft past it, giving me a second putt up hill but across the slope. Another putt and 3ft past above the hole and across the slope again.

I ended up with 5 putts for an 8, missing 2, 2.5-3ft putts and feeling like digging the green up with my putter

My medal was over on the first and although the rest of the round was ok with the exception of one other hole I never recovered from the first.

A few weren't happy with the flag position, however there's no excuse for bad golf and certainly not for 5 putts but it happens and sometimes we just have to put it down to experience:o

Forgot to add, did I get some flack? I don't think they'll let me forget this side of Xmas :mmm:

The worst I have ever seen was a friend of mine who at the time was playing off 5. Par 5 on it for two with 7 feet left to the hole big uphill putt. He then 7 putted for a 9, 6 times the ball got close to the hole and then trickled back to him.

After the round he sold me his Scotty for a bargin price  Silver linings and all that

A challenge Del......
Try and post at least 10 times without mentioning the yips!!
I don't think you can do it....

On Nairn’s greens?

Best greens I’ve played all year.

I have had a 5 putt once, hit a par 3 in one on herons reach but had a 50 foot putt for the first one.

Agree about Nairn's greens, superb.

Was it the 16th at Herons Reach by any chance....? I've been 10 feet away for birdie and delighted to walk off with a 4 on there before now!!
