So as it is nice out today, I thought I would head down to my local today, and use the putting green on my lunch to get used to my new Odyssey 2-ball metal-x.

What kind of putting drills to keep the time I spend interesting instead just hitting a hole from different lines and lengths?

Try hitting specific lengths - 3, 6, 9 feet - with your eyes closed!

The spiral drill - as many balls as will fit in a hole arranged in a spiral around the hole. Once you've sunk them all, another spiral but move the one nearest the hole to be farthest from it and sink them all again. Repeat several times!

Putt x number of balls. Score 2 points if holed, 1 point for getting past the hole but within 2 feet, 0 points for being short or too long. Repeat until all balls scoring/best score.

Draw (exaggerated?) Line-up line on ball. Line up and putt so that line rolls end over end!

That lot (especially the last) should keep you busy for a while!

3 x 3 foot putts from each of the four compass points if you don't hole 12 on the bounce you start again - really good for pressure putting!

I do this. once you score 12 out of 12, move to 4ft, 5ft etc.. you can be there for hours and i have used a number of expletives when lipping out number 11!!

i get 3 balls. start at a certain point and putt to a hole. Try to get up and down in two with each ball. You can put pressure on but deciding to hole the longest first to put pressure on the short ones. Or you can do it the other way round. if you dont get up and down then start again, if you do pick a different point on the green and start again.

For me, find the flattest part of the putting green and line up a dead straight 5ft putt and knock x3 in a row (repeat). I use two tee pegs either side of the putter to try and keep it square. Also adopting the same pre putt routine every time. Aim the puttrr head with line on the ball, set my posture and light grip, one look at the hole, and almost as soon as my eyes return to the ball, pull the trigger.

I'll do this quite often.

Spend a little time working on between 6ft-8ft in the front room.

When I'm at the course I work mainly on lag and good distance control.

same as pal! just before I head out for a round I like to putt a few long ones just to gauge the speed. when you hit a green in reg you are far more likely to be 25 ft away. that's my thinking behind it.

im forever putting during the ads when watching tv. perfect time to do it !

I love putting practice, can spend hours at the short game area. It has got me in trouble with the wife more times than any other part of golf!

Hi I also took delivery of new metal x this week no.7 though. For indoor putting drill, put 2 tins of beans or what ever down either 2 balls or 1 1/2 ball apart then from 3 or 4 foot putt thru the gap then round to other side putt thru again. Then obviously keep score to improve surprisingly difficult. Helps with set up/ lining up as you only hit one put then move round rather than same spot over and over with a cup or putting machine thing.
