Dull subject compared to the big sticks. But we do use them more than any other club.

I might (do) have a slight issue putting and have a slight figure of 8 pattern on my back swing and down swing. I know that it's mostly technique, but what do folks find is a really good putter for decreasing this pattern. I tend to try and putt straight back and through.

I currently use an Odessy White Hot No. 7, the original 'fangs' one.

Many thanks in advance.

The thing with putters and putting is you will never get the perfect putter unless YOU find it!Cost or makers name do almost nothing to provide you with the best or perfect putter. You will take quite a while even with professional help to get the right putting style for YOU.

It is such a delicate operation that requires tuning in to a putter as much as working on a putting method. That method doesnt have to be in a book or even in the pros knowledge, some of the most consistant putting I have seen over the yrs has often been the person with the odd style/method,and/or scruffy looking old putter.Every so often there is well publicised changes in the pro game of putting, "last season I are mostly be putting with a wider stance, roit!" before it was upright and square, then there is baseball grip, wrapped fingers.lol Then there are the long stuff, then belly putters, thats all the rage recently.Point is if you see it happening all the time at the top there are two things to consider, 1.a cash making promo 2.Even pros dont know what putter or style suits them.

It took me about 20 putters, bought, loaned or as a trial before I found the one Ive had since early 80s. I like all golfers make mistakes with putting but I can honestly say with this putter I very very rarely take 3 putts (by rarely I mean 6 or 7 times a year)and have never taken 4 except when I played 9 holes drunk! hic! When Im on form I can almost be sure of never exceeding 2 putts and often do it in one.Your putter is out there as is your best way of putting, you just have to be prepared to look.

I use the eyeliner training aid. Basically a mirrored surface with alignment lines to make sure the shoulders are square and that I am looking directly over the ball. The putting rail keeps the stroke nice and square and these can be taken off. You can also use tees to restrict the length of backswing and to enure you putter is online through impact. Got mine from AG and it has made a real difference to my stroke. It is a lot more compact and short and I have more confidence on those nasty 2-3 footers.

if you put some lines on your ball and once struck they roll nice and straight you doing nothing wrong, the fang you have should be fine to keep the putter straight although i cant get one to sit flat unless i go down to 33 inch shaft they are very flat
