Missing a lot of putts to the right. Can anyone tell me about drawing the ball on the putting surface?

Does the new ball flights still apply? I've tried swinging on the inside with an open face at address, swinging out to the ball but contact is variable.

I feel like I'm coming over-the-top as well. Would a more off-set putter help me?

Alternatively, should I set up for a fade as it seems to be a more 'natural' shot shape?

For all practical purposes, you cannot put any significant amount of sidespin on a putt, or draw or fade it. The direction the ball takes is mostly down to where the club face is pointing at the point of impact.

See the problem is you are trying to apply the new ball flight laws. Putting is actually governed by the new ball roll laws.

The easiest way to draw the ball is to be on a surface that slopes right to left (for a right handed player).

Are you aiming your putter face at target and aligning your stance right looking for a draw or are you applying D plane

It's not possible to draw the ball using the new ball flight laws unless the green speed is stimping above 11.5
Any slower than this and you have to use the old ball flight laws.

Bobby Locke had a rather in to out putting stroke with a slightly closed face. These two errors probably just cancelled each other out. He was a great putter though, probably through lots of practice. In his era greens were generally slower than today and putters had a bit more loft.

I think you need a ball marker custom fitting session with your Pro.

How do you know your marking your ball correctly and replacing it?

When putting, balls slide over the grass for a few inches after being struck and then roll the rest of the way. No aerodynamics involved, so the normal ball flight laws are not applicable. As I stated before club face alignment is the most important factor in determining the direction the ball takes.
