Hi guys,
Today i played a round with my friend! (girl) she was using a 32" putter and after using it on hole 2 because my bag was miles away, i used it every hole after that and made alot more putts! 4 breaking putts, 5ft, 6ft, and 2 from 8ft! For me these lengths cause me problems with pulls and pushes so!
Just emailed my pro and on friday i am going in and he will fit me for it, shorten it and give me it back on saturday morning!!!! :D :D :D
Very happy!
ANybody else share a similar experience? How did you find the shorter putter?
Thanks!

I took an inch and a half off mine, put a jumbo grip on (not quite a two thumb) and practice a better stroke, last few rounds have been pretty good, 27-31 putts regularly.
Horses for courses though.

I shortened an Oddyssey Dual force half mallet to 32 inches an instantly got better with it, although the longer putts (over 12 feet) were a little more difficult.

Conversely, i shortened my Ping Pal to the same length and now can't get on with it. I'll be putting an inch back on it when i get the chance. The swing weight definitely changed with the ping, substantially, to the point that i don't feel like i'm getting right through the ball with it now. The Ping has a heavier head, so the swing weight is more noticable.

If you can, It's worth cutting the putter down a half inch at a time and having a few strokes with it until it feels right

miniRG has a putter that must be all of 30" or less. I putt great with it.

up to about 20 foot. :D

I got custom fit for a putter recently, I'm 6ft and the ideal came in a 32.5 inches. I would never have considered a putter this short before. I've been playing with it for 4 rounds now and the initial results are excellent, both on long & shorter putts.

I may be corrected but I believe to cut a putter down correctly you have to add weight to the head.

I've mostly used 33 and 34 inchers down the years. The RedX is 35 and I've never putted better.
It's about how it feels to you. If you feel good with a short putter then go for it.

I think it really depends on the putter, although i have heard this. I haven't had a problem with swing weights while cutting down, until i did the Ping that is. It's a lot harder to build momentum with it with the shorter shaft on it

I ditched my 34" putter a week ago in favour of my trusty Ping Anser 4 and in the two rounds since I've shot 74-79 and had 29 and 30 Putts respectively against an average of around 32. I used to like the short putter but lost confidence with it and now feel like I have more room to make the stroke and get better feel for distance.

I won't be changing back in a hurry.

I happily cut all mine down. I hang my arms down then measure from my hands to the floor, that is my measurement. That way I know I can swing it freely from the same place every time. I'm not bothered about swingweights and all that crap, just cut it down and enjoy.

Went back to my Anser 2 and cut it from 35 to 34 and putting like I was in my junior days. Oozing confidence again and even though I can't make every one I think I will. Great feel and it just sits perfectly for me now

I'd agree. Had 2 inches taken off the putter & a 2-thumb grip stuck on & my putting has never been so consistent. Again I'm only 5'7" so it probably is all about getting clubs that are right for you

Hi,
I don't think it will make much differenct to a face balanced putter if you cut it down, but it will make a toe weighted putter feel a bit different. Same with putting on a thicker grip it will change the swing weight.

Had a putter lesson last week at the open, have now had my putter cut down to 30 inch. Will see how it performs in the senior championships this week.
