Just bought myself a Wilson tpa XVIII putter off eBay for £9.99 I used 1 when they 1st came out so when I saw this I thought I would snap it up. Any way the one I had was black with white and gold site lines. Now I have strip the putter back to bare metal but not sure to paint the face black or mask it and paint the rest any ideas.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Hmm I think I would a) send it to be finished and powder coated , probably £70 or b) just give it a rub down with some wet and dry then apply paint fill ... Rooter will give you the low down on metal rubbing.

I think originally the faces of these putters were unpainted so I'd be inclined to leave it shiny. Also if painted it is bound to get marked which might spoil the overall effect.

Looks like a prime candidate to firstly polish out the imperfections with wet and dry, work down from a rough grit, to super fine. then looking at the putter, i would heat it up really hot, then dip in oil to give it a rainbow effect. will look proper smart IMHO!

This sound like a good idea. Any motor oil will do? And how long do I leave it for

there is loads on line, lots of it very complicated!! personally, i had a play with the techniques, just got metal really hot with a blow torch (not red hot ie furnace hot) and then dunked it in used engine oil. different temps and different oils will give different effects! its a proper art form, i was just messing around with it...
