I bought a 33" putter recently:rolleyes: but sitting it beside my other 33" putters it's an inch longer.
Checked with manufacturer and they say it's a 33"......

so my question is, is the measurement from the grip tip to the shaft bottom i.e where it meets the head, and is that a standard way of measuring?

I always understood that the length of the putter should be measured down the shaft to the ground, straight through the intersection with the head.

Some OEM's may have other ways of determining length though.

yeah, bit of googling reveals it should be measured to the ground, so my 33" putter is actually a 34" putter in the real world even though Odyssey sold it as a 33" as that's the shaft length.:(

Exactly. My Scotty measures 33" to the floor, seems Odyssey measure only the shaft length then.

if its been bent upright it will give it the impression of being longer! :)

impression doesnt enter into it- used a tape measure:smirk:

Every Odyssey I've worked on measured to the floor. This one is more than likely one with a incorrectly labelled shaft.

regardless of a label (which doesn't say any length) Odyssey confirmed by serial number it's a 33" manufactured putter on their DB.
But it sits at 34" incl head :(

The guy on the Ping truck said that putter length is the measurement from the end of the grip to the middle of the putter face.

Is that 33"?

Rob

They've obviously just ballsed it up then! How was it sold to you as 33"? Was it in a wrapper or something - just wondering as you said it didn't have a measurement on the label.

Ping maybe measure differently- that would be 34" to middle of face or heel. Odyssey sold as a 33" shaft maybe...

whatever way it's done it needs an inch lopped off as I thought I bought a 33" putter not 33" shaft. Should be a quick fix for Pro shop I would imagine

Pro shop in Devon- Odyssey sticker on shaft but no length. Was just told it was 33" and technically they are right, confirmed by serial number with Odyssey

I'd suggest you check it against a 34" same style Odyssey before you pay any money to make it into what you need!

Weird. I have to say, I never understood it. I had mine C/F to 34" (and upright a bit)... it's the same as my spare (which has a 34" sticker on it).

Does it feel long?

yes, hence why I checked, dissapointed to find that 1", and as we all know 1" can make a huge difference:eek:
