Morning all,

Had my first putting lesson on the weekend. Have a straight back and through swing path and looking for a face balanced putter. Willing to buy whatever putter gives me the best feel, around December time. Want to try out a few to help me make my selection, prefer a blade with single, simple guideline.

Currently, looking at Scotty Cameron Newport 2.6 but doesn't have to be a top end purchase. Any other suggestions for the shortlist welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Tiger

New problem. Thanks to all of you that have posted advice thus far. Currently, on the shortlist are:

SC Newport 2.6
SeeMore M1
Yes! Carolyne

Mike I've looked at the Daly, but based on internet images I just can't see it inspiring confidence when I look down at it, but that said I will give it a try.

The problem is, with the exception of the Daly, none of my local fitters stock the putters so I can't try before I buy. I live in Ipswich and work in London. What now?

Odyssey Rossie Range.
The Dual Force Rossie II which I own is perfectly balanced and as it is not the latest model you there are quite a few bargains out there

AG have a few centre-shafted putters at the moment which I presume are all face-balanced.
Tried one or two recently. For me the best were Fisher CTS-3 and Ping C67 but some, like the Odyssey have way too much metalwork, and others like the Ping Half Craz-E and an SC were too light.

Depends where you are in London, Tiger?

If you are in the city, then there is a Nevada Bobs near Liverpool Street that stock all of those putters and they have a practice area where you can just pick them up and try them out with a few balls (maybe not the Seemore).

Redwood you are a gem. I get the train into Liverpool Street and stopped in Nevada Bobs this evening. The verdict? A lot of companies say their putters are faced balanced when they are not (quite). This made a massive difference to me and found I was consistent in my missing with those ones.

The most impressive for weight and feel was the SeeMore M1. I also loved the alignment dot but as it wasn't faced balanced I had to adjust my swing to get it in the hole (not ideal). The Newport 2.6 and the Yes! Putters had the same problem though I loved how the Carolyne got the ball rolling.

The Taylormade came very close to a there and then purchase, but I preferred the feel of a milled face rather than an insert. So in the end?

Well as with my other clubs I'm going to get custom fit for a heavy SC Newport 2.7. The standard model was too light for me but everything else about this putter said buy me. Once the weight is sorted I'll have more control. Here's hoping murphthemog is right and a Scotty is not just for Christmas!

Thank you all for your help. I love the support and advice available on this forum and it really does help when you are making a purchase and looking for ideas/help.
