Went out for a Billy no mates round yesterday, worked on a few things. Course was quiet so i was able to spend plenty of time on the greens. Putted all the time keeping my eye on the hole rather than the ball , takes some getting used to but on the whole it was great ! seldom left putts short and from any where on the green left mostly tap-ins.Will definately be adding this to my game . The only time it is un nerving is when there is a lot of break on the shot and you are not actually aiming at the hole, but perhaps i should be sighting a point on the green in those cases . :D

I tried it as well and I was also surprised at how effective it was, however I wasn't hitting the ball out of the middle of the face each time so I decided to alter the technique slightly and took a practice swing looking at the hole imagining I was playing a ball and then I would remember the feel of this putt (something I was able to do with great ease which was also surprising) and then I took the actual putt whilst looking at the ball, so I got the benefits of both the traditional and the 'monty' method.

looking at the hole while doing the practice swing , this is some thing that i have always done anyway. Maybe that is why this method has been so good for me so quickly.

If I was going to copy someones putting routine, it would be someone who can putt, not Monty. The same applies to the guy recommending a putting gadget endorsed by Sergio.

Whilst I accept what you are saying murph, I bet monty is still better than anyone else on this forum or any other non professional at putting so he would still not be a bad person to model yourself on. Whilst I know there are better out there, I would take Monty's putting over mine any day of the week, he is averaging 30 putts per round and I still find that very good, the best on the european tour are only averaging 27.

And it is not his stroke people have said they are trialling its the method of putting whilst looking at the hole, which is a widely published method.

sergio will have have to give it a go then instead of just putting his name to it,if he could put he could take tiger on anyday
