PurpleBricks

We used them last year when we sold. The local agent we had was excellent and we will look to use him again next time we sell. The interface you get and effectively arranging own viewing, seeing offers digitally etc is nice and convenient rather than waiting for calls from an agent at end of day etc. We did our own viewings as i was working for home but we handed the negotiations back to the agent. Follow up service from the head office was adequate, wasnt impressed with their legal dept they tried to sell as an add on.

This was selling a 4 bed detached that was 5 years old in a very buoyant market so didnt need a great deal of selling and we felt he got us top price (he got more than we thought possible).

The small counter is we have looked at properties in a different area with a different PB agent and were totally underwhelmed. I guess like most businesses it can come down to the individual you have most of your dealings with

I've bought 4 houses, over 20 years, sold 3. Only 1 of those transactions, buying my current house, had an estate agent worth paying. The rest were close to useless. On that basis I would be happy to try this new wave of sellers as they can't be much worse than the old school firms.

big argument that with the digital interface and that you control all viewings and offers through this is an improvement on the majority of old school agents on its own

Thanks for the information guys.

We have decided to go with one of the local agents to sell our current property, mainly because we want to sell pretty quickly and the agent we have chosen is one of the most respected in the immediate area. I will definitely consider using Purple Bricks etc in the future.

Most agents now also show what there selling on on-line platforms as well, such as Zoopla. To be honest, I wouldnt use an agent who didnt use one of the on-line platforms to also show there offers.
