We are going to Richmond this weekend and am looking for a pub where we can eat on Friday night, table for 6 covering ages 14-76. We are not tied to Richmond, happy to drive 15-20 mins or so. We have seen a few in Richmond on Trip Advisor but everything seems quite pricey. Any hidden gems a few miles out? We don't need Michelin stars but we want better than Wetherspoons.

Back up is the New Treasure Garden Chinese which seems to come out well, although if a local can confirm that would be good.

Haven't checked the milage but went to look around Akebar Park camp site the other week as we used to camp there. Attached to it is a really nice pub that used to do very good food, it's had a make over and looks really and the food coming out looked as good as we remembered, plus it has about 4/5 ale's on too. Little bit further is Leyburn which has 2 or 3 decent pubs to eat in. Sandpiper Inn is very good, more pricey than a pub but really good food. Golden Lion sells decent pub grub too, there's an indian there too that I think is owned by a few Bradford lads so you know the curry will be decent.

I could give you a list of good country pubs towards Reeth.
The Fish & Chip restaurant on the A66 is very good.
Tennants [auctioneers] restaurant is great, not sure if it is open evenings.
