Hi folks
We currently have an Xbox 360 with kinect etc and have thought about upgrading it to a newer console.

At present I play Fifa 15 and some fps

The kinect is redundant and the kids never use it but the weeman might start to play a little

Looking for advice on which platform might be best.

Thanks

Don't have one myself but all my mates solely play fifa and they all have PS4's.

Played on it myself and its far better than the xbox 360 you'll be upgrading from.

They all tried out both consoles when they were deciding what to get and said the PS4 won hands down.

I have the PS4 and love it , regarding both consoles I don't think you will be disappointed with either of them mate. In the end I choose the PS 4 as I have always had playstation and a lot of my mates have them. However it was a close call between the 2 mate.

What ever you get I am sure you will enjoy it.

Who you play against , the dog lol

I am going to go against popular opinion and say Xbox One. There is little doubt that the PS4 is a bit more powerful and may end up the better long term bet. Trouble is, at the moment, it is lacking decent exclusive games, PS Plus is suffering quite a bit if downtime and their 1 exclusive racing game, Driveclub, us not great and the servers are struggling so much that they have cancelled the propoaed free PS Plus version.

The Xbox has sone great exclusive games, loving Forza Horizon 2 at the moment, Xbox live works great and the operating system is being improved with fan suggestions every week. Also the non kinect version is cheaper than a PS4 now. It also has EA access which gets you digital downloads of certain EA games, 5 at the moment including Fifa 14, for a £20 a year subscription

Clueless myself so asked my Son (who is a Geek) he has played both and as stated you won't be disappointed with either, however XBox one is currently winning down to amount of Games available and future forecasts, plus apparently there is a Golf game due out on XBox One next spring.

Titleist or Mizuno irons? It's the same question, both are equally good and which ever one you own, you will say it is the best.

I have the Xbox ONE and I love it. I love the extra features that come with it. I have an app on my IPhone & iPad that basically turns them into touchscreen controllers for the Xbox. If I using my iPhone to look at something on YouTube I can click a button and it puts it straight on my TV via the Xbox, it's the same for things like NETFLIX & HULU etc. The one annoying thing with using consoles to search NETFLIX and other media players is trying to search using a controller, but my iPad is now just a keyboard for it.

go for what you want, you will not be disappointed either way.

I went from the 360 to the PS4 and not been disappointed, Now the decent games are starting to come out and loads due out soon either console should be fine.

There is a golf game under the digital games section called The Golf Club thats pretty good too :)

How on earth do you play FPS on a console?

A steam box not a consideration? With "In Home Streaming" it can pretty much do anything.

Some great games on steam, "The Golf Club" is not bad but a couple of others due out next year should rival that in golf terms.

You get used to playing FPS on consoles. I used to be all about keyboard and mouse but got fed up with the constant need to upgrade my pc. Now I am better with a joypad

Since the i7 came along all we have needed is a couple more gigs or ram and a couple of new graphic cards.

I have had the same base rig since 2007, OK I have had two new cards which = 1 console in value.

The money I have saved on games however pays for it. Console games are 10 times the price I pay for most games I buy.

Thanks for the replies folks

Adey I like the idea of iphone/pad control it's that type of thing that would sway me.

Cheers.

it it does other things too that are pretty cool too. You can connect your digital TV through it so it plays everything via the XBox. 2 good things about this, it frees up an HDMI on your TV and also if you do not have a couple of optical inputs on your surround sound sound kit it doesn't matter as everything is now through the Xbox, so you only need one.

The difference between this and the 360 is unbelievable. I went into my stepsons room the to their day and he was playing COD GHOSTS on his 360. I had a go on it and couldn't believe how the game play, the graphics, the controller and the overall experience felt archaic compared to my Xbox ONE. They haven't just made it a bit better, they have gone all the way to give you everything they can.

I feel like the Xbox is being designed as a home media hub to be in your sitting room, it feels like its more grown up, something for adults that want more than just a games console. But they haven't sacrificed how well it plays games.
